I know Dr. Paul suggested July 4, and there are valid reasons against doing so.

This "discussion" will last forever if we let it.

*I* have decided to march on Washington DC for the R3VOLUTION on June 21.

Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me?

Don't know about you but I will be marching with the rest of the marchers on the date that is official, have fun by yourself if it's not on the 21st

I think Ron Paul is going to give us a date soon isn't he? Just wait for word from him. Probably the 4th of July if it's possible.

You are high.

If you cant see the obvious reason why July 4th should be the date...

1. You need to time to promote the event.
2. Its a national holiday.
3. Fireworks.
4. It will be packed. Thats a plus, not a negative.

We shouldnt do it on a date where its just us. We should flood DC on the most patriotic date of the year and take advantage of the other folks there visiting too.

And the man himself said it 'would be pretty neat.'

No brainer folks.

I thought one of the points of this march was to influence people in remaining primary and caucus states to question their votes for McCain? If that's so then June 21st is too late.

Dkim, thank you for saying that. At least there are a few of us who get it.

RP said it was to show our strength in numbers. All he said was for the march to take place before the convention.

Maybe a few more weeks of discussion is best, I can see that.

Also, just to note, the criticisms on the thread here are that "the group" hasn't made a group decision, it's too early, and it's too late.

Right. And that can have a strong influence on the voting public. Are we giving up on efforts to sway the voting public away from McCain? I say ALL our focus should be on that right now. If this march could influence just 15-20% of the voters in the remaining primary/caucus states to not vote for McCain, he will not win enough delegates to secure the nomination. Shouldn't that be our primary goal?

This isn't to influence primary voters. Realistically we'd have to march in march or april, and that is way too soon. You wouldn't get half the people. A lot of people who will go to this march will be college students. Many college students simply cannot do this in March of April. From the message Ron Paul gave I got no hint that this was intended to influence primary voters.

I have been trying to convey this message to everyone for a few days now. Read my thread about it here:

It seems like alot of the people here want this to be about their own, Hollywood induced, V like agenda. They don't care what is good for the Campaign.

Luft the campaign is secondary to the message. Ron Paul has a very small chance at becoming the next president at this point.

More people would show up if it was kept to the message which is vastly more important than Ron Paul himself. He can be the organizer if that's what he's doing and hopefully a speaker at the rally, but if the rally is about RON PAUL, not as many people will listen.

Look at the Digg crowd and the top stories lately that are bashing the government. Yet these same people think Obama will fix it... They see that the countries on a fast track to hell, for whatever reason though many don't see Ron Paul is the one man running that will be able to turn this around.

If the message is freedom and prosperity and not "vote for Ron Paul", many more people will listen. As more and more hear the message and educate themselves on what is really going on, most will naturally support Ron Paul.

the campaign is secondary to the message.
How can you think that? the campaign is primary and carrying Ron Paul's message supports it. To seperate support for the campaign and delivering the message at this crucial time is the same as abandoning Ron Paul altogether. We must support the campaign by sharing his message with as many people as we can, as soon as we can, and in as strong a way as we can.
