Title says it all.

I spent two weeks in iowa volunteering for Ron Paul in 2012, worked for my local GOP during the '08 election, volunteered for a local aldermen camapaign in 2010 and have been involved in local politics as well.

I spent three years building and running my own internet marketing business and am now going back to finish my degree in Poli-sci since I want to be in politics. What do I need to do to get onboard with the campaign when the season rolls around?

Volunteer for the campaign. Prove yourself and if he wins then submit your resume to the transition team

Same here, volunteered for Ron in New Hampshire in 2012 and am now trying to finish my Poli sci degree.

Unfortunately, it is all about who you know. First get to know your potential state director (campaign chair or c4l director) and move on from there into national. Or if you're YAL, try out for an internship with Rand's office or Amash, Massie, Cruz, whatever...to get some experience.

This.
Be the best damn go-getter in the campaign. make the magic happen. then send your resume that december '16.

poli sci degree does not make one qualified to work at the white house.
if this is the only reason you are seeking this degree, stop. it really is a waste of money.

Justin Amash recently posted something on Facebook about wanting to hire someone. I don't know if the need is still there. But I would bet that doing that would be a good way to open the door for working with Rand in 2016.

I agree with what others have said about the degree. If you've been successful doing what you're doing, then there very well may be more effective ways for you to move forward in politics than doing that.

Unfortunately, all my volunteering efforts were dedicated here on this forum toward organizing for some of the larger money bombs and not off-line, except for the people I talked to closest to me. You might remember my large promotional threads for Black This Out, Tea Party 11 and a couple others. I guess I'll just have to do it again in 2016!

I assume there are thousands of youngsters just like you that want to join the Rand campaign in 2016. Unfortunately, your 'resume' doesn't have much on it. If you want a paid job on Rand's campaign, you need to volunteer like crazy to prove your worth and meet the right people so that the Rand campaign has a reason to hire you over other applicants.

I think the best you can do is start volunteering for your state's GOP. If you impress enough, you might be able to get a paid position on a big Missouri race in 2014. If you perform well at that job, that will basically be the best thing on your resume. There's not much else you can do since election opportunities are only once every two years.

If you're up to do anything to land a Rand 16 job, including moving, then you should probably try getting a job at one of Rand's Senate offices. Then if you actually get the job, you'd have to prove your worth to the senior staff. On top of that, you'd probably have to join some sort of Kentucky campaign in 2014 and be an amazing staffer for whoever you're working for.

If you work for CFL you will get an inside track.....as well as YAL and FreedomWorks and at the offices of liberty people.

edit-are you from Missourie? See if state Rep. Paul Curtman has a job opening

How do you stomach that?

Opportunities to gain campaign experience and networking are extremely limited in between election seasons. He could also try interning with Missouri office holders. It depends on his availability. If he has free time, then the internship might work, especially if there's a big office holder that he likes. If he has a full time job, then he's going to be limited to nights and weekends.

Take every Campaign for Liberty, and Freedomworks, and American Majority, and Leadership Institute class that you can.

Then go find a candidate that you like, and volunteer on their Campaign.

Do that a few times, get known, and get to know people, and if you're good at what you do in addition to being likeable, you'll eventually get hired. But keep in mind that the pay is rarely great.

Also keep in mind that 90% of the action in Rand's 2016 effort will be in IA, SC, or NH. NV too.

Exactly. I got someone hired on Capitol Hill once, and they told me what made them stand out in the interview process was that they had a MBA instead of a JD or Pol Sci degree. Everyone in politics has a JD or Pol Sci degree. Be different and stand out.

Do you think a credential like the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst www.cfainstitute.org) would be seen as valuable?
