I tried to warn you guys.

Look, if Ron Paul doesn't win it won't be because the grass roots or the campaign screwed up. It will be because his message of limited government is NOT POPULAR. I know that is really hard for some of you to understand but why do you think there are so few people like him in elected positions? Why do you think that he is the lone dissenting vote on so many pieces of legislation?

I am not trying to be negative here. I'm just really tired of people trying to find someone to blame for everything that goes wrong when the real problem is the message.

Why is Ron Paul's message unpopular? Well, it's a number of things. Many people are apathetic and fear change. Many people just don't agree with him for a number of reasons. When it comes right down to it the only people you can blame is the voters. As the saying goes, "I have seen the enemy and it is us".

Why? He is right!

HQ is obviously not configured for combat on this modern day battle field.

Just because someone has campaigned before means absolutely nothing.
We need people who think, who think outside the box. The status quo does no longer work in this modern age.

GET eLIBERTY and AVAROTH on the frikkin payroll already!

These 2 alone can turn things around!:)

I agree with many of the posts here. I'll make it very simple and succinct:

SPEND THE MONEY WE DONATED AND GET THE MESSAGE OUT!

The message will sell itself as it is presented to the voters in a professional way. Ron Paul's campaign will be able to raise all the money it needs if it shows results (which means racking up some campaign wins). I for one am not content simply to say, "Well, we made some real progress this time...maybe in eight years we can gain another five or ten percent." Nonsense! That kind of talk is for losers! While I am speaking out tonight against the pessimism which I am seeing on the board, I am also speaking out to the campaign to get out there and do your job. The candidate is right, the message has never been more important, and the time has come to run! Don't squander this opportunity to grab the momentum!

I agree 100 percent. And I'm sad to say that this shows very poor judgement from Ron Paul. Is loyalty to his staff more important than getting results? This type of cronism is what made the Bush administration so terrible. How can Ron Paul be President if he is unwilling to make tough choices and do what needs to be done to make things happen? Would he sit by as President and watch things fall apart and not take action? I really don't understand what the hell is going on with the campaign.

My brother has said this same thing. If the campaign is really inept, it is a reflection of choices Ron Paul has made or not made...if RP doesn't fire someone or hire someone after today, the grassroots is seriously the only hope.

Reagan lost Iowa and won the presidency as many have, this is a victory for RP to get the amount of votes he did. Iowa knows subsides, and want government freebees on the taxpayer dime. Take your negativity away from here, the great citizens of Iowa have spoken and that rarely means they influenced the presidential contest.

I agree!

This is one small skirmish 150,000 people voted hardly a deal breaker. How many campaigns have the whiners won compared to Dr. Paul's 10?

Knock the defeatist crap off did you expected the nomination to fall in our laps? This is the fight of our lives he did well and took the independent vote which bodes well for NH. We got 49 states to go before it's over so quit bitching and get to work!

Alright then. Hopefully the campaign will learn from this and start moving things in the right direction before it's too late.

instead of assigning blame why dont we take the initiative now and identify where we went wrong and rectify them ourselves? low turn out was one problem. i dont know how the delegate situation went but that was another problem. there are very easy solutions to these problems. turn out to vote! every single vote ocunts! inform yourselves about the election process! talk to people about Ron Paul! Don't be discouraged. THis is the beginning and only the first battle in a long war. Lets get out there and canvass people. I really want to see people doing something solid for RP. get out there and pledge to write letters and canvass.

$20 million

will buy ads and staff for Nevada, Michigan, South Carolina, Florida, and the 20 Super Tuesday states (incl. Cali, Colo, AZ, NY, ).

Most of the other Republicans are broke and have spent their money, Ron Paul has been prudent and kept back millions, which will be needed for ads and staff up to Super Tuesday. I'm glad he didn't go all crazy trying to buy Iowa, $700,000 is enough to spend on ads.

and we have to raise even more money to go beyond those 20 Super Tuesday states, so let's get down to it, take 10% in Iowa as a good start, and move on to getting 12% - 15% in New hampshire, if we can!

I remember reading an article about commercial blocks that were purchased in Iowa and thinking to myself that it was incredible affordable. I was also wondering why these were not being pursued nation wide. The sooner you reach potential voters, the more campaign donations will come in. I get the feeling the campaign headquarters might be a little to optimistic with just how far the internet will take them, based on what I have heard Dr. Paul say. I hope they will take tonight seriously and become much more aggressive with the money that have received. Without new donations the money bombs will run out of steam and end up looking like Huckabee's. We don't have favorable status with the MSM like the others, so HQ needs to act accordingly.

I have been unhappy with the official campaign since mid november. How can Huckabee do what he does with less money? I've been here in Michigan for all of Christmas break and I haven't seen or heard one Ron Paul commercial.

To move up quickly, Ron Paul needs to get a hired gun- an evil, calculating SOB like Rove/Carville/Morris.

Unfortunately, if he did that, he'd have to cave on his principles and become just another pandering politician- and even if he "won", it wouldn't do us any good.
