I think secret weapon was PARDON ALL NON-VIOLENT DRUG USERS

Please stop censoring me admins...

Its the same thing that the MSM is doing to Ron Paul, censoring a person just because you don't like what they say.

Being from B.C. in Canada, I smoked alot of weed when I was in my teens and early 20s. Now days I have a wife and 2 kids, and I make $150,000.00 a year at a great job. ( no i dont seel weed now ) and I dont do any drugs anymore at all. It still amazes me that there are many people in the U.S.A in jail for doing what I did, their lives are ruined. Whats even more amazing is the fact that alot of Americans still beleive that if you smoke weed you are on a path to disaster. The reality is, Americans are on a path to disaster from day 1 with the government being the way it is. Weed will just make it less painful, and way less stressful.

Because they vote in really HIGH percentages... (and little old ladies afraid of all those "scary" drug dealers don't vote, right?)

Admirable position, but not exactly brilliant political strategy.

The only way this is a secret weapon is if it is intended to completely torpedo and sink the entire campaign. (Which may actually BE it's purpose).

It works in deflecting allegations of racism... because minorities can tell you the war on drugs is against them....

The majority of people over 50, you know, the people that actually go out and vote, think that letting drug offenders out of jail is an insane idea.

There is a reason HQ is trying to portray Ron Paul as a capital R Republican. You people who think that this is going to go over well with the masses are living in another world.

And don't attack me, I like the idea of legalizing drugs. But I am old enough (in the over 40 category) to recognize that an idea like this is enough to sink any ship. It might get him some votes in the general election, but this position, if well advertised could cost him any chance of winning the nomination.

True, but minorities basically do NOT vote in Republican Primaries.

Especially when there is a semi-black brother running in the Democratic Primary.

And the minorities who DO try to vote, are often subject to "voter caging" -- that's the whole purpose behind VoterID -- just ask the ones that live in Florida.

Like any other issue, it requires a deal of education to the public. Currently I don't think we have the time to educate the public about the benefits of decriminalization ... but the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (which is the main organization for addicion psychiatrists) does issues a policy statement supporting decriminalization at least (though they still think people should be told what to do and 'mandated' to treatment).
They have taken a lot of heat for advocating for this, but they are the ones treating people.
