My question is, if he's "innocent" of any impropriety, or ehtics violations, why has he retained such a big time lawyer to "mount a bold defense" against the charges of NYT's article. If the alegations are in fact false, why make such an effort to deny it?

I just read on another forum that Huckabee's wife was a McCain before marrying him. Maybe, even John McCain's cousin. That would explain the lovefest between the two. If true I doubt Huckabee will be jumping on this story.

Yes, the Times had to break it sooner than they wanted to, because the New Republic got their hands on it and weren't about to wait. Yes, Dr. Paul was bound to know that McCain is a dirty little pig and that the Democrats would have plenty of ammunition to use against him. Yes, there's still time to inform the G.O.P. primary voters in the remaining states--and let them know there's more where that came from. They have much more to fear from a McCain candidacy than from a little discussion in St. Paul.

What nonsense. There's probably nothing in the world in which people's privates lives are more heavily scrutinised that in a Presidential race. It doesn't take a prophet to know that all kinds of secrets might come out in these campaigns. You only have to look at the history of past campaigns to know what will happen - just as Ron Paul has looked at the history of foreign policy and economics to know what works best.
