I think Dr. Paul needs to clean his message up a bit

He should talk about what he WILL do if elected.

I Will bring the troops home, I will stop funding dictators, I will correct our Money system with help from congress, I will repeal Patriot Act, I will restore hapeas corpus etc. etc.

Or he could say things like " I will put more money in all Americans pockets by eliminating the income tax and reducing big gov't, and that dollar I put into the pockets of the every person in the United States will be worth more than it is today by bringing a sound monetary policy to our money system."

He has to let people know he is doing this for them.

Yes, people have said to me (parents,,others) that he needs to speak clearer, they never understand what hes saying, or that they do understand, but the average "American" wont.

I agree, and that's the challenge that he faces. He needs to find a way to convey his message. I dont buy the idea that he needs 20 minutes to explain it. I'm sure it would be better if he had 20 minutes, but he can (he must) do whatever he needs to do to get the message across.

To understand the devaluation of the dollar, I came up with a really simple explanation - If I start a new government, and I print 100 $1 dollar bills and give 100 people $1 each. then tomorrow I print 100 more $1 bills. The value of the $1 bill in everyone's pocket from yesterday is worth less today. It's that simple. When our gov't prints more money, the money in your bank account is WORTH less today than it was yesterday.

I think anyone would understand that. And it's a powerful message - the money that I thought was safe, in my bank account, is worth less???

I think he just goes on too long trying to explain things.

For example, his response on illegal immigration was long winded. He could have said the same thing, more strongly by saying:

When you subsidize something you get more of it.

Right now we give free schooling and free medical care to illegals. We reward them for breaking the law. Several on this stage support rewarding illegals for breaking the law. As president I would not give illegals anything for free.

I would go after businesses who hire illegals, and I would take our troops off the border of south korea, and put them on the border of the southwest of the United States.

the truth is that all the issues are interrelated and ron paul simply wants to convey that. however the viewers cannot process information that fast and paul needs to dumb down his message. use more of the analogies like he did in the electibility question

He has to trim the economic thing down to about 3rd grade level. He has to explain what artificially low interest rates means to real people out here. He needs to tell them that malinvestment means buying things on credit that you cannot afford and why that is bad.
He needs to explain that the Fed is trying to prop up this pathetic economy by encouraging Americans to take on MORE debt...

Someone has to help him hone that message so Joe sixpack can get it.

I agree with the others here who have pointed out that Ron Paul needs to refine his message and his delivery. What is our goal? If it is truly to get Ron Paul elected than he HAS to polish up his delivery in these debates. He can do this while staying true to his principals. Spend some of that money on this.

A good teacher finds a way to make the student understand. He does not have to dumb down his message. But he does need to do a better job in delivering his message and personally connecting with more voters. Good marketing is not anti-libertarian!

Aye, the average reading level is what...sixth grade? I can only image what the average knowledge of economics is.

They ask the same _fucking_ questions every time. All he has to do is prepare his answers ahead of time, and shorten them. Yes I know he wants to relate everything back to foreign policy, but that actually hurts more than it helps since many don't agree with his foreign policy, and they stop listening at that point.

I majored in econ in college and I get confused when trying to think my way through alot of economic issues. Not to mention I've had trouble explaining that which I do understand to friends of mine that are way above average in intelligence. It isn't always easy to get people to understand but that has to be a priority.

You happen to be right, but I HATE HATE HATE when the rest of them get up their and give their stupid generic little "I believe in America! Let's change Washington!" bullshit.

I totally agree. His best of the line tonight was the one about borrowing from China, to give to Pakistan... Dumbed it down and straight to the point! I get Ron Paul and I was a bit confused.

The only difference I've noticed in the last month is that he's more frequently truncating his sentences. The very last word in many sentence is cut off prematurely. I attributed this to rough hours and exhaustion on the campaign trail. I hope his campaign people ensure he gets proper rest between events. Listen to me... haha. I've never cared about ANY candidate this much before. LOL
