I predict that Rand will wear jeans on Letterman, tonight.

That was the worst interview I've ever seen. It was worse than Lawrence O'Donnell's treatment of Peter Schiff.

I warned you guys about this last week. Read my post in the thread when it was announced that Rand would be on the show.

Lol why? Rand pretty much owned Letterman.
O'Donnell was just down right rude and highly disrespectful to Schiff. Letterman was not anywhere close.
The best he had was "You just said some facts but I FEEL your FACTS are wrong"
and "Your arguments make sense but I just FEEL you are wrong anyway"

It was a stunning display of modern progressivism, no regard to facts or honestly thought out argumentation, just feelings.

"We've thrown money at education, but it hasn't worked."

"If we're going to throw money at something, why not education? Why don't we just raise taxes, throw money at the problem, and see if it works?"

....

I agree it was bad but not as bad as the interview you're talking about

So I'm thinking Letterman might have been a little extra tough on Rand for mentioning Franken's "he's not funny" comment....

I doubt that had anything to do with it.

In the last five years or so, Letterman has become a grumpy leftist. Look for the tape of his interview with Obama. Letterman gave him the opposite treatment.

Carson used to tell late night hosts not to let their politics be known. Letterman followed that for much of his career but abandoned it during the peak of the Bush years/rise of Obama.

Lol, let's not get hasty here. Here, let me refresh your memory:

Your honor, permission to treat the host as hostile.

The comment noting his union support after the break was far worse than anything he said during the interview.

That's why it was a bad interview. Letterman resorted to the lowest form of debating. What Letterman said is what you expect in a college dorm room, but not on a major network TV show.

Ok, I admit that saying it was equal to the Schiff interview is probably off, but that still doesn't change the fact of how classless Letterman was. Of course he also had to throw in a cheap shot after Rand left the set. It was bad, people.

Ah ok, yeah I mean it was a shitty interview, but I think it just made it look Letterman look like a total idiot.

yeah it wasn't necessarily good for rand, but it definitely just showed letterman as a complete idiot. He wants to double public teacher salaries from 90K to 180K?!?! It just shows how much of a fat cat limousine liberal he is, and how out of touch he actually is.

"i don't agree with you, but I don't know why!" and "those tax numbers can't actually be right".

The problem is that Leno/Letterman aren't good shows at all to go on to talk politics, and Rand isn't funny enough to small talk and tell anecdotes that will make a liberal audience laugh. A silent audience on late night always makes for an awkward interview, regardless of what's said, since most of the time it's celebrities that elicit laughs every few words.

I still think he will have a good daily show interview though...I have faith Jon will treat Rand with the same respect as Schiff/Ron

I just saw a question on yahoo answers by a liberal saying RAND looked like an idiot and just curled up when questions came. I can only assume that questioner was paid staff of the Letterman show. NO ONE could interpret that show that way.

and democratic underground. Are the really that STUPID that the don't see that Letterman didn't know what the hell to say because he didn't understand basic economics?

I'm thinking they can't be that stupid. They just WANTED so badly for Letterman to take Rand apart they are pretending it happened.

Link please! It's late and I'm giddy. Let's hand him hizz azz.

But yeah, DU posters really are that stupid. It's like the Daily Kos for the stupid people, and that's not redundant, believe it or not.

Here's a quote from there:
Letterman Just Made Rand Paul Look Like A Complete Ass.....

he took him to school and at the end Letterman said something to the effect that he doesn't know what Paul said but I'm sure that it was wrong.

Uh, what Letterman said was that he was sure Rand was wrong, but couldn't figure out why. That's taking him to public school, I guess.

Letterman obviously went into the interview with the prejudice that Rand is a scary person as portrayed by the media.

It was okay, not like Rand bombed it or anything. Letterman admitted he wasn't capable of arguing against anything being said, but what irked me was he didn't quick plug the book at the end and instead stalled a few seconds after the break for an off-statement that he can always make at any time. It's difficult to change an elderly person's perception of things.
