"I love Ron Paul's domestic policy, but..."

There are so many Republicans who say something like, "I love Ron Paul's domestic/economic policy, if only he would have a reasonable foreign policy!"

They love the fact that he wants to cut $1 trillion and balance the budget. But what they need to know is that his "economic policy" of cutting $1 trillion includes a large amount of cuts to overseas spending, and that it's not possible to cut $1 trillion or balance the budget without reducing spending overseas (or else cutting benefits to seniors)! Thus, the domestic policy and the foreign policy are one and the same. Meanwhile, they are supporting candidates who want to increase overseas spending!

Also, when they say that they can't vote for Ron Paul because they "disagree with his foreign policy," we should point out that if Ron Paul is not elected, our economy/dollar will collapse and we'll be so broke that we won't able to even have a "foreign policy"!

Yes, that is also true. If you have time to explain it, a lot of people may end up agreeing with much of his foreign policy.

a lot of republicans are santorums. they disagree on a lot more than just foreign policy, but thats all they hear about. they are actually for big bush government. they are for drug wars, they are for abolishing personal privacy and habeas corpus, they are for writing laws about marriage and regulating behavior.

2. Our 900 bases subsidize other nations' defense programs, and so they redirect their money to social welfare programs for their citizens. Our overseas spending is technically funding the very socialistic policies we decry ("free" tuition, "free" healthcare, etc.).

3. Israel is more than capable of taking care of themselves, and are the ones best suited to decide what military actions need to be taken for their own national security. Our intervention undermines their ability to take care of themselves.

4. While we do give Israel foreign aid with which to buy weapons, we give more money combined to their enemies with which to buy weapons.

If he would just study the economic plans of the other candidates, and then one by one called them out in the next debate, asking HOW they were going to pay for their budgets and exposing the fallacies with their 'acceptance' of his domestic policy and their 'rejection' of his foreign policy, i think that might turn a lot of heads.

what people don't know is that every base has local and US civilian's working on the base . the avg US civilian will make about 3-5 times what a gi makes and there is hundards of them on each base , 99% are not even needed.

even thou RP wants to shut down all military bases and bring our troops home ( which i agree with ) , i do think a few airforce bases would be kept open , also a few navy bases to service our fleets and subs.
