Most voting were dems by a large number. I saw the lists. It is still way early my polling place opened at 8.

Ron Paul supporter (I have never met) was handing out slim jims. Another group (I have never met) was just about to sign wave.

Also, how's the turnout?

Most states require all paper ballots to be retained. I believe you can request to have access to them post-election.

Another way is to become an election judge.

THIS NEEDS to be looked into if you can get the count afterwards.
If you can...then DO IT people. We can't have voter's not getting their vote counted.

We used a scantron machine in a University class I took. On 20 question tests, it routinely mis-scored 2 out of the 20 questions (10%) on EVERY SINGLE PERSONS TEST! - different questions too! It took longer to go over the test by hand and find the bad scores than it took to take the test. Every time!

Yep...exactly. It would always mess up for us too.

We don't hand count stuff in this country anymore. We want instant unverifiable results for some reason.

1) Voters are freaking retarded. As I was getting a ballot a girl (about 20) was registering to vote. The poll guy asked what party she wanted to register as she says "indie" he said you cant do that you need to pick a party then you can change back to indie after you vote. She said I DO NOT KNOW WHO I WANT TO VOTE FOR.

This makes me very sad...this is why our country is doomed...the dumbing down has worked on most people...

It's like a scan tron. The problem with those is you don't know what the key says. Each DOT should be worth 1 point for each candidate. However, it might be giving Ron Paul .8 votes for every 1 vote and giving McCain 1.4 votes for every 1 vote. That is how they rig a system like this. Voting in this country is completely fubared!

A hand count is the ONLY thing that is safe. And it must be in the open with no secrecy whatsoever. Ballots should never be taken out of view for even a moment.

At least with the optical ballots the ballots are still there for a hand recount. There is no way to check the results on electronic machines.

Given the practicalities of modern elections (i.e. need to count lots of votes quickly) the optical scan ballots are the best compromise. They give immediate counts on election day, but can be counted by hand if there is any indication of vote tampering. They would be even better if there were automatic recounts in randomly selected precincts (sort of like unannounced random drug tests in professional sports to deter cheating).

One benefit (In CT at least) to the optical scan is that it's a much clearer and less confusing way to vote than the lever machines we had. We have been trained to fill in bubbles on standardized testing from the time we could walk.
