So, did Jesse just slip up, or was it Ron that made the exit? I mean, he did get 1.5 million less then a month ago from the money bomb. I mean, I think I remember the Ron Paul campaign being frugal, but I wish they would have just never ran TV ads and just focus on grassroots activism from the get-go. I know the grassroots isn't quite what it was, but Ron has been doing pretty well. Doug Wead was saying Mitt is likely the nominee awhile ago. I just don't understand why the RP camp is announcing an exit, when they're already on the ballot in all the states? I was about to GOTV for him in Texas and CA? Sooo... I guess we're just done now? So like, I feel like something went wrong... can anybody fill me in? =/

I know we're not 'just done', and we should still GOTV, but it's just gonna make it that much harder to really make the upset =/ bummer =(

Unfortunately, when they didn't run ads, people bitched about that too. Cannot make everyone happy. This is the cheaper alternative and more bang for the buck. Grassroots has been handling primary stuff very well IMO.

Exactly. Why do f self-proclaimed fiscal conservatives(or fiscal compatible conservatives) complain, when the finances have been as open as possible. A little bit of mental arrhythmic goes a long way.

GOTV, press harder than before. The more people that think it's over, the more our activism multiplies it's power.

I'm sure those of you upset with Ron's decision have data showing spending millions in ad buys will turn those primary states around and ensure victory.

If we had a crystal ball, we'd have won in 2008.

Doubtful. We just would have seen more of the tricks coming. It would be a ridiculous mistake to think that would mean we could magically win. If anything, the fair weather supporters would have stripped away earlier.

My earlier statement still stands. Someone has made a pretty solid decision that millions being spent in the remaining states is not going to translate into victories. The delegate strategy does not really rely on funding; it's mostly about awareness and activism and cooperation. We have those things in many areas, but are a bit short on cash to try to convince the general public that Ron should be their choice. That really does nothing. No one's going to become a delegate based on "hey I just saw that dude on tv!" and mandy deadlines have already passed.

It seems like a smart choice.

So I'm sure to contradict that choice, someone must have at least a hint of an idea to the contrary.

Not necessarily, it is a 'Ron Paul email' but most of them sound quite unlike him.

So I quote Paul directly from his own site and you delete it. Wow, that is incredibly odd.

Look I know it sucks that this was released, but it is what it is.

I'm all for running ads, but I'm all for not wasting money on an ad that is outdated attacking candidates not even in the race. That is simply a waste of money.
I agree, the grassroots supporters are once again handling the campaign's business, and in Tampa, it's going to end up being whether or not the grassroots allows themselves to be steamrolled by the GOP machine, or if they take the controls of the machine.

It's deja vu Loti. Now that we know that it's happening all over again... what should we (grassroots, individual free men) do before the GOP convention this time?

A few days ago Benton telegraphed this move. He wants a future career in the GOP. He doesn't deserve it.

The same as you were going to do before you received the email: Phone from home, become a delegate to your convention, etc. Anything but give up now. We'll cross that bridge when we need to.

Whatever. What was YOUR major contribution? Wanna have a pissing contest because I will win.

Apparently though, you will be crossing that bridge without Ron Paul, Jesse Benton, or the $30+ million the grassroots gave the campaign to see this through to the end. I mean heck, if this was only about a delegate strategy, RP could have saved the grassroots supporters MILLIONS of dollars months ago...

For the love of fucking christ you morons. Read the email. He's not dropping, he's spending the money on facilitating the delegation. Remember weeks ago when we kept hearing about a change in strategy and John Stossel's already forgotten comments a couple weeks ago about him blowing up? He's not out. Ron's not running, we all are. Do your part or GTFH and quit backseat driving. We got a hint about a change in strategy, now that the strategy has been changed everyone and their mothers are freaking the hell out. Stop it and press on. I'm still going to my state convention. Are you?

No one is upset on him being wise with money and spending it where it will do the most good. Everyone is upset with the damn email the campaign sent out! That email never needed to be sent especially now that that campaign is WINNING the majority of state delegates in many states! The difference between spending ZERO in a state campaigning and spending a very small amount is huge when it comes to perception. The media can't say he isn't campaigning in these states if he makes an appearance. But now the emails states he will spend ZERO money in these states and that is giving the media all they need to declare his campaign over! The email hurt Ron Paul much more than it helped him.
