I have no idea how to respond to this, is Paul's no amnesty stance to strong

Ron Paul has made it clear that the problem is with the welfare state, not with the immigrants. He has said that they are blamed for far more than their share of problems.

To many on the edge, they think "Why work for $200/week when I can sit at home and collect $200/week from the government?" This mentality causes jobs to go unfilled, which creates a demand for workers to fill those jobs. Illegal immigrants end up filling a large proportion of those jobs.

If we ended handouts, we'd have a larger proportion of people working, which would boost the economy, creating more jobs, and more immigrants would be welcomed. Without free education and health care, there'd be no reason for someone to come here unless their intention was to work hard and carry their own weight. Very few would have a problem with that.

I don't like Paul's immigration policies. He should be talking about drastically increasing the quotas. But I guess you can't have it all, right?

Why? Don't we have enough of a collapse in this country as it is? How many more millions do we need? In california it is becoming over-crowded where I am and I don't want to have to move because of it! Hell it is becoming over-crowded everywhere in this country. We don't need anymore quotas.

If Ron Paul would deport illegals back to their home countries, I think the majority of americans would be happy but seriously I don't think he will do that. Though I wish he would.

Labor can be solved by having low-level prisoners do the work.

Colorado Farmers Turn to Prisoners to Do Work of Illegal Immigrants Friday, July 13, 2007

E-MAIL STORY
PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION
AVONDALE, Colo. — For generations, farmers in southern Colorado have depended on immigrant labor to work their fields.

But the new immigration laws in Colorado are some of the toughest in the nation, and now illegal immigrants are hesitant to come to the Centennial State.

Farmers say only half the normal number of migrant workers appeared this year, going instead to states like New Mexico and Arizona, where the laws are not so strict.

But the soil in Colorado still has to be tilled, and the seeds have to be planted, and somebody has to be in the fields to harvest the crops so that the onions, peppers and melons don't rot in the ground.

So the state came up with a plan to replace the illegal immigrants with workers from a different kind of home: inmates from colorado's overcrowded prison system.

"It's not a cure for our immigration problem, but it's something that we can turn to and maybe get us through these times until legislation gets these laws in order…." Said Joe Pisciotta, an onion farmer who now has women from a local prison working in his fields.

"I've got to get my crops out. Tha'ts my livelihood and I've got to think about that first."

At first the farmers were concerned that the prisoners wouldn't work as hard as the illegal immigrants they are replacing. They also had concerns about having the prisoners around their families.

But only low-risk prisoners are allowed to work in the fields; sex offenders and inmates sentenced to life without parole are not permitted to participate in the program. And the prisoners are constantly supervised by a prison guard.

The farmers pay the Department of Corrections $9.60 per hour per inmate, most of which goes toward paying for the guards, transportation and lunch. The inmates themselves earn $4 a day, which is nearly seven times the 60 cents a day they can earn in prison. And the money they earn will be waiting for them once they've finished serving their sentences.

The work proved so hard, many of the women dropped out quickly. But most of those who have toughed it out say it's well worth it.

"It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life, said Kaedra, a drug offender who is working in Pisciotta's onion field.

"One of the cabbage fields … they were just little tiny plants and now they're big huge cabbage, and now we're getting ready to harvest them. And...we're actually pretty excited about it...and I wasn't expecting to feel that way."

As for the pay, Kaedra said: "I make $4 a day. For us, that's a lot."

Though some farmers were skeptical at first that the inmates could do the work, everyone now seems to be satisfied with the program. Twice the number of farms have asked the prison to provide workers this fall for the harvest.

-1 for paul's immigration policy.

people are people, earth is earth.

Sorry but that's marxist propaganda. No sane people will ever agree with it. Nor should prosperous countries be forced to turn into the third world because of it.

Families from Italy can immigrate much more easily than families from Mexico. Citizens from Latin American countries are discriminated against, and about the only way to legally immigrate is if you have close family living in the United States or if you are in a highly skilled profession, like medicine. There is NO LEGAL PATH for the vast majority of immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, and etc.

This is factually INCORRECT. There are quota LIMITS on ALL european immigrants in this country as of president Johnson signing in bills. And also as of the 1965 immigration act. In fact the sponsers of the Bills' were ex-trotskyites. What we would call neocons or globalists/CFR, pro Nau, today.

Illegal immigrants from Central and South America have far HIGHER QUOTAS than any other european country.

I was just getting ready to post the govt. stats. Well done.

Your personal opinion simply does not match facts. The U.S accepts over a million LEGAL immigrants each year, and the vast majority of these come from Mexico, Central and South America. It is in fact easier to immigrate legally from Mexico than it is from Italy, if all other variables are held constant. However, most Mexican immigrants find that it is even easier to just cross the US border from Mexico and wait for amnesty, rather than to do the proper paperwork.

Notice below how immigration from Italy is so small as to be not even be listed.

"In 2006, a total of 1,266,264 immigrants became legal permanent residents of the United States, up from 601,516 in 1987, 849,807 in 2000, and 1,122,373 in 2005. The top twelve migrant-sending countries in 2006, by country of birth, were Mexico (173,753), People's Republic of China (87,345), Philippines (74,607), India (61,369), Cuba (45,614), Colombia (43,151), Dominican Republic (38,069), El Salvador (31,783), Vietnam (30,695), Jamaica (24,976), South Korea (24,386), Guatemala (24,146), Other countries - 606,370. In fiscal year 2006, 202 refugees from Iraq were allowed to resettle in the United States. Muslim immigration to the U.S. is rising and in 2005 alone more people from Muslim countries became legal permanent U.S. residents — nearly 96,000 — than in any year in the previous two decades."

"In 2006, legal immigrants to the United States number approximately 1,000,000 legal immigrants per year of which about 600,000 are Change of Status immigrants who already are in the U.S."

This problem is so easy to solve, just test mexicans that want to work here for diseases and violent criminal records, weed out the bad and issue 6 months per year work permits so they can stay here legally and go home to their families 6 months a yr to fix their own country and be a proper parent like they should.

From the L.A. Times

1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County ( L.A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for

cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants

working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens

4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal ,

whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens

from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.

(There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County ).

(All of the above are from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth

(and over 90% of California , Florida and New York ) results from immigration.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

.

I also can't support throwing people out of this country who've basically known no other home. Children who've grown up in this country, speak English like natives (sometimes as their only tongue) and have no memories of any other country are as American as anyone in my opinion.

Yeah, their parents may have broken the immigration rules, but in this case, the idea of punishing some 18 year old kid by exiling them from the only home they've ever known is a punishment all out of proportion and it is unjust.

Some of these people could be you. Try to imagine what it would be like to spend your entire life in the U.S., only to be told when you are 18 that you are not welcome and have to go live in a land where you may have no family, no cultural ties, and no ability to communicate.

These people need to be treated as individuals, not as part of some collective faceless mass of 'illegals'.

Well how many fit that category? Do propose then if you allow them to stay the extended family too or send all the adult relatives back? Parents,Aunts, uncles, how many millions are you suggesting letting stay for the parents knowingly breaking the law. Send the whole family back and let the children come back after thet are adults? What is your detailed plan?

.

I think we should be kind and send the children back WITH their parents. This way there are NO excuses for people to make. They had places to sleep in mexico. They broke our laws coming in. They should be sent back WITH their parents. With the money they made here, even though our dollar is crashing, they will still be able to live better than they did before in mexico. Yes our dollar is bad but it is still greater than the peso, for now.

My answer to these people is this: Tell them that they will never find a person that they agree with 100% and to look at the big picture, do they want to live in a free country with our rights protected under the constitution or some kind of socialist police state where executive orders trump all laws.

The Answer I feel in my heart and wish I could give, but would only hurt the Ron Paul image:
They came here illegally, they are all criminals, how can you consider granting them citizenship when they already broke our law? Would you give a drug dealer a pharmacist license because he has been dispensing drugs for years? Birthright citizenship should only apply to children of legal immigrants. How can you grant citizenship to a child who’s parents came here illegally, hoping to have their children become legal citizens, by bypassing the law on their own immigration.

Any illegal alien needs to be sent back to their home country.

I don't care if they were brought over here at two years of age.

+1 on Ron Pauls immigration policy.

Illegal is illegal, you make it "less" illegal and you provide incentives for illegals to come here. My wife did it the legal route, we've been going through it for 3 years and spent over $3,000 so far for the proper paperwork. Amnesty makes becoming an American citizen a cheap title.......it has always been, is and should always be something worth working for.

Okay.. I recieved this response from her, Is Paul going to deport illegal immigrants back to their countries?

"i am very glad your parents had the opportunity, very few people have it, some of my friends didnt. and its so weird cause they are so much like me and every other kid here. back in their country its SOO hard to get a visa like seriously some of their parents tried for 10 years to get a visas for the whole family and when they finally did they came here he was 3 , he along with his parents as you would say Over stayed their visas. I havent missunderstood ron pauls views, i think you dont even know his stand on immigration. Quoted from his website:"Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas." so yeah he does believe in punishing 17 year olds that came here at 3" deportation=punishment duh. i think its you that isnt familiar with your favorite candidates views. and what are these ways to get legal? seriously please let me know what are these steps. go to an immigration lawler and ask and they'll tell you there are zero steps for 17 all underage kids that came here at a very young age. and its not like most of them dont think gosh i wish i'd just stayed where i was at the age of two but now they cant do nothing, they cant even speak spanish, what job are they gonna get if they go back. complete culture shock."

what to say?

yes, OMG what would these poor 17 year old English speaking American educated children do when they got deported. Hmm I don’t know maybe run companies, or become lawyers and work for immigration reform, or a million other opportunities they gained from the 10+ years of illegally obtained education at the expense of united states tax payers. Am I to feel sorry them that they may have to learn Spanish?

She sounds like an illegal immigrant sympathizer, personally I would just give up and move onto the next one. If people reported illegal immigrants living in the community the way they do on drug dealers and rapists then this immigration issue wouldn’t be an issue. If you have criminals living next door turn them in, don’t make friends with them.

"i have heard of ron paul but i just dont agree with his no amnesty stand
i have friends that have been here since they were 3, that dont know spanish and live the typical lifestyle of any 18 yr old. i dont understand how somebody can turn their back on innocent people. im not sayin that the parents derseve it but the kids dont. im sure its the parents fault but they are here and we need to deal with all these illegal teens. sending them back would be absurd , they wouldnt even know how to function in where ever they are from, any smart person knows that it would traumatic and psychologically wrong to send these kids back and say they are crimminals, last time i checked no 3 year old has been committed of a crime so saying that theres not gonna be an amnesty becuase it will mean rewarding crimminals, is like sayin that hes responsible for coming to this country when they were 3. they might work illegally but what do you expect any other 17 yr old to do , they still get taxes taken off, i dont know but you have to remember that they may be 18 now but you have to see that when it comes to been illegal and been a crimminal they are still the innocent 3 year olds that they were when they came here "

I recieved this email, I don't think Paul is advocating sending them back, but I'm not entirely sure, anyone know a good response?

If they were born here so they are already citizens. The change would apply to new immigrants.

The original post was referring to those that came here with their parents at a very young age, perhaps three years old, and have grown up here. Culturally, it's the same as if they were born here. Legally, it's not considered to be.

You are an ass.

This whole thread is ridiculous. There should be some special cases, regardless of these heartless appeals to blanket policy. This girl is not Mexican, she is as American as all of us... you people are unbelievable.
