and it feels god damned good.

I know this may sound bad, but I feel that i am politically and philosophically superior than most people around me. And it feels great. After becoming a Ron Paul republican/libertarian-leaning minarchist, I am equipped with so many CONCRETE and COMMON sense arguments against neocons, socialists, theocrats, fearmongerers, marxists, etc. I also feel that I am a part of a small group of refined intellectuals--libertarians. Although I am vastly outnumbered, it feels great and i feel like a true rogue equipped with logic and clarity. I feel FREE and indepedent, yet socially aware and compassionate. I am a free-thinker.

I now have a firm understanding in the fundamentals of economics and a free market, individual rights, the constitution and PEACE and non-interventionism.

I'm sure some of you feel this way too.

Now I have no fear of going to parties and getting into political debates because I think i have an edge.

A fool boasts of his intellectual superiority over others.

Yeah I knew someone would say this. But, being surrounded by so many dumb and ignorant people makes me feel different and enlightened. I'm not saying I'm a master but I that my mind is clearer and enlightened.

Don't be afraid of your ego.

lol but instead of ego tripping, help inform other people. My favorite method right now is buying books & lending them to others. It works great!

Just don't wield it like a trophy. You want more people up at your plain, not less. If that's your attitude, i'd hardly call it elitist.

Don't listen to them armand. You're also fluent in English. That's a lot more than the president of these United States can claim.

Wow, impressive. Will you get special treatment in the prison camp as well?

To anyone who is saying I'm ego tripping, well, what happened to all the people who were getting pissed off at idiot voters during the primary? Obviously we were pointing our anger against the stupidity and blindness of the sheeple. Honesltly, what's wrong with feeling a little proud of embracing common sense when others can't even conceptualize the notion without being smacked in the head.

Seriously, people voting for Obama because he's charming and he speaks for change? This represents almost EVERYONE at my school. We know they're wrong. We are relatively (high ass margin) right. Have a little fun with it.

But I am educating my friends slowly, and it's working.

lol its not like we know that he hasnt done anything for the campaign but is here "ego tripping". he isnt posting this on mccain's or huckabee's website. he's not really boasting. he's talking to other ron paul supporters about how he feels enlightened, and objectively speaking, superior in political understand to the average person. me too. i think all of us feel that way. cause we are for dr paul. and they aren't. but i dont really see any area where we can attack him. this isn't his answer to the question "what's one thing you have to say about the ron paul revolution?". he's just trying to share his feelings with his like-minded forum buddies, and you guys slap him in his face for "ego tripping"? chill out.

We're remnants. :) I see nothing wrong with being proud, only when you're boasting. Discussing with fellow RP supporters isn't boasting imo. The only people that should offend are those who aren't RP supporters and really they shouldn't be here anyway. *waves to Huck and McCrazy supporters*

Everyone should be a bit proud of themselves for not falling in line and seeing what is going on. You should be proud for believing that CHANGE isn't a policy nor a reason to vote for someone. You should be proud that you aren't cruising on the straight talk express for the next 100 years or you aren't into putting squirrels in popcorn poppers.

QFT.

He is boasting. He may not have meant to, but he did. I have no problem with him boasting, I just said it is in poor taste.

I used to feel like that and it drove me nuts. Election after election I couldnt figure out why others couldnt understand the philosophy of Libertarianism. I look to it as if it is my religion. One day, I gave up the mantle of superiority and understod the strength that it takes to be a Lib. It wasnt that I was smarter or superior, it was that I was more confident and didnt NEED control of others in order to make myself complete. In the end, I find Libertarians to people who have come to grips with who they are, how they want to be treated and are willing to sacrifice control to obtain it. I am not superior.....well maybe just a little ;)

I think we all know what the orignal poster is saying here, and how he feels, after being enlightened. He has awaken!

It's all good, he's just having fun thinking about it.

BTW, buying great books and then passing them on to others is one of the best ways to wake others up!

It really does come down to control and letting go of the "right" to force others to live a certain way. Great post!

I feel that way every once in awhile, and it makes me want to cry for mankind in general.

It makes little difference, though. Most chemists are better at chemistry than I am. People just spend their energies elsewhere. Having a basic understanding of political philosophy and economics doesn't really make me that special. Most people could do the same with a small amount of effort. Some of those would still decide that the state should be used for purposes I don't agree with.
