Speaking as an Iowan, the liberty crowd here in the state is not sold on any candidate.
Whitaker seems to be the most receptive to our cause and issues. But he only generates tacit acceptance as there is no other alternative. Many feel he is mostly talk when it comes to liberty issues and is playing the liberty crowd. Liberty Iowa will be hosting a debate sometime this spring I believe. We'll see what comes of that.
I have a friend that likes Clovis. Much more of a so-con than anything but seems to understand limited government and fiscal conservatism. He may become the evangelical candidate in the primary but his lack of fundraising may make him a regional candidate at best.
Joni Ernst is a HAWK. I would never vote for her.
Mark Jacobs is the newest entrant into the race and is throwing TONS of his own money at this. I hear high profile ads almost daily. He may win the primary on name recognition alone. All I see in him is another fat-cat millionaire moderate buying his way into office.
Schaben seems like an honest guy that wants to do good. I don't think he really knows what he is doing though.
