I am a Vegan, Bike Riding, Peace lovin'...

Rock on. We have both so much and so little in common. It's good to be united for this. I'm anarcho-syndicalist... and I'm still a little in shock that I could support two (maybe even three, actually) different people for president in a single election cycle. Of course, that's partly due to the sad state of affairs our gov't is in and I value ending tyranny and empire over theoretical politics.

Likewise. I have similar views too. I support Keith Preston's Attack The System.com group. Others not familiar with such views may recognise Keith Preston as one who has written the four part anarcho/libertarian series for Lew Rockwell called "In Defense of Ron Paul" which were phenomenal! Left and right uniting for freedom - as it should be!

Hah - it sounds TERRIBLE. It's like it won the award for 'worst health food name ever', losing out by a hair to 'hummus' and 'tofu'. I know. But it's actually quite yummy - I highly recommend trying it on toast or a bagel. My love was scared to death of it (despite being vegan herself) until she finally took a bite of my toast. Now she loves it more than I do. Some people also like to put it on their pasta (not me).

wow it is like dried vegemite the worst stuff ever made!

Hey there Affa that was fantastic what you wrote. We're coming out of the woodwork now...I'm a vegetarian, bike-riding etc, etc. I think the hatred between liberal and conservative has been socially engineered y'know. divide and rule and all that.
I could not believe it when i first encountered it in this country. You are almost afraid to say the words love and compassion because that would mean you are a communist. It veers towards the Machiavellian way too much. Ron Paul is the great unifier!
And I loooove Kucinich too.

We've definitely been conditioned to hate 'the other', be it an opposing sports team or political party. I've long noticed that the left/right division was an illusion - it's actually a circle.

One thing the Ron Paul revolution has done is to unify that circle - there are posts in this very thread, for example, where we can see people coming together that wouldn't have even though to exchange words one year ago.

This is beautiful.

Peace is powerful.

Looks like the veggie support for Paul is growing :D Awesome!

And it will continue to grow. I hate to break it down to something simple, but Ron Paul is the only candidate in the running who will end the war. I love Ron Paul for many more reasons than just this... but he's the only ethical vote left.

i feel that alot of people are vegetarian or vegan because they are scared of getting cancer... but it has been proven there is no correlation between a vegan diet and cancer risk..

the body processes proteins and carbohydrates the same way wheter or not its a potato or fish.

Umm.. as someone who is vegan, and lives in a city full of veggies and vegans and knows even more online, I can tell you I've never heard any of them give 'avoiding cancer' as their reason for being so. The two most common reasons (usually in parallel) are because they feel healthier and have ethical issues with eating meat.

"The new politics of America is liberty from the NWO Police State and nothing more....The New American Patriot will be neither left nor right, just a freeman fighting for liberty. New alliances will form between those who have in the past thought of themselves as 'right-wingers,' conservatives and patriots, with those who have thought of themselves as 'left-wingers,' progressives, or just 'liberal.'

A new dawn is breaking upon the American political scene. The old words of divide and conquer will come to mean less and less to thinking people. There will be no meaningful differences between those who want freedom. But rather, just "Americans" who want to be free and are fighting the Police State to gain that freedom.

Wake up and smell the tear gas, freedom is calling its sons and daughters.("Neither Left Nor Right" - Louis Beam)

1776Patriot, I totally agree!

I think the "new alliance" of right and left is here now. And here to stay. Perhaps in an ideal world, we'd be political adversaries, but of course the world is far from ideal and the amazing thing is we -agree- for the most part on how to make it better! Once the Dems are nominating people like Kucinich or Nader and the Repubs are nominating people like Paul (or maybe Buchannan), we'll know we've acheived VICTORY.

When that happens, we can go back to arguing about health care or affirmative action or something and our alliance will have broken up. But to argue about that stuff now, it'd be like arguing about the color of a car we want to drive off a cliff! The Democrats and the neo-Cons are driving this country into the GROUND. Unless we stop them.

So, I join with my conservative brothers and sisters in liberty to save the country!

Mine started out as health concerns, but the more I looked into it that became less of an issue. It was more the ethical concerns with treatment of animals and the likes that drove me to such. In other words - yeah - I saw one too many PETA videos honestly and that was enough for me.

that's strange, i hear all the time about cancer recoveries resulting from an all veg diet.

Not sure what I am but I support the Constitution and have a lot of time for you all,

I think those people who understand each other here on this subforum need to start working together. Because right now it's up to the oldschool republicans to sway McCain, Romney, and Huckabee supporters to get us the nomination... but once we have it, it's up to us to convince Obama and Clinton supporters that, believe it or not, a Republican is actually the right person for the job. And it needs to come from us.

The word 'socialist' gets thrown around like a knife here.

Well that's because it should be an insult. Being a socialist is down right un-american and socialism is the anti-thesis to freedom . . . no matter how much you want to dress it up.

Oh, and, btw, if you're picking the politicians you like based on their eating habits, that's just plain sad.

Did you even read my original post?

No? Didn't think so.

The fact of the matter is that despite your opinion of socialism that uses your definition of socialism, many people will come here thinking concepts like 'universal health care' are a positive, beautiful thing. Treating them the way you do does not help us OR them. You do not educate, you berate. It's like the two sides of the abortion coin - unable to communicate because they're arguing different arguments. For example, most people talking about universal health care are talking about an ethical point - that no one in need of health care should ever be turned away, whereas most people who are against it are making an economic/freedom point - that money should not be taken from one person against their will. Until miscommunication like this is solved, no progress can be made.

And your post is absolute proof of that. Stay out of the pro-Kucinich subforum, you aren't helping anything.
