Hypothetical: If Rand doesn't run, would you support Ted Cruz?

Well?

  • No, I'd prefer someone like Rubio/Christie/Ryan/a Democrat etc.

This is a hypothetical that's never going to happen. I don't happen to agree with many of Ted Cruz's positions but he might be slightly better than the rest the two party system has to offer. Not enough to make me want to get out and vote though.

No, ignoring the Canada thing, Ted Cruz voted to give medical data to the Feds. That means he's a traitor, violator of one of the few Federal laws that actually has a constitutional basis. He may be the best traitor in all the senate, but he's still a traitor, and so I can't support him.

I'd vote libertarian or constitution, depending on the specific candidates involved.

I can see this being a big court battle.

His father was a Cuban immigrant to the United States during the Cuban Revolution.

No, it's not a big court battle, because it's already been repeatedly litigated at various times and the ruling every time has been the same, that anyone born a US citizen is a "natural-born citizen." His father is and was a naturalized citizen, and in any event only one parent is necessary to confer citizenship.

If Rand didn't run I'd be agitating like crazy for Ron to run again, personally.

At 81, he'd darn well better pick a good VP just in case.

I think he could do it, but I don't think he'd want to, I'd be all for it though. In fact, I want Ron to run more than I want Rand to run...

If Ron doesn't want to run at 81... completely understandable, I'd go for Judge Nap.

If Rand Paul is not the nominee. I go GJ!!

I'd go for Gary as the GOP nominee but we really need someone better for the LP. I'd much rather a purist like Badnarik or something...

Gary Johnson is really close to the same as Rand Paul in my mind in terms of how good, just with different priorities and not as politically savvy.

I'm not expecting Ron to run, but under those circumstances I'd certainly want him to.

No. Rand is not even exciting me at this point. It makes you realize how special Ron Paul really was.

I'd want Ron to run under ANY circumstance. I don't think there's a single person in the country more qualified.

OK, Ron's my guy, but I wouldn't nag about it if he decided to let his son run, instead. If Rand weren't running, I wouldn't shut up about it.

If Rand does not run and Cruz does, I will donate to and campaign for Cruz. But Cruz is not going to run, so this topic is irrelevant.

Rand will most likely run, and Cruz will be involved with his campaign, maybe as a debate coach or something.
