Hurricane Helene

And now ask yourself why.

I'd rather ask what makes you presume I haven't. Especially when I have a multiple page thread full of my speculation on that very subject on this very site.

What's more, I think mine makes more sense. It's based on historical precedent -- a number of them, but particularly the Biennio Rosso, which brought Mussolini to power.

As unpleasant as all this is, they're just marking time. The massive human experiment is already yielding results. These will accumulate and accelerate. This massive loss of life and ability will make most of, perhaps all, of this moot.

It's a sad intermission. And kudos or blessings or whatever currency your divine accepts to everyone still trying to help each other.

But an intermission none-the-less.

The same thing that always makes sense still makes sense. Find like minded people and quietly prepare.

Wow you really are an unhappy lad, so to help you we will say that you're smarter than I, and a better person. I sincerely hope this makes you feel better, because attempting to have a civil and adult conversation with you apparently does not.

A civil and adult conversation tends to avoid a paternalistic tone.

Try to tell me that you've never once in your life bridled at such an elementary suggestion and I'll happily call you a liar.

The funny thing is, you've participated in the thread. You've critiqued my own answers to that question you think I haven't asked. You know I've asked myself that question. Have for months.

As we age and our memories get weaker, it's wise of us to pause and consider that we can no longer be certain people haven't already tried our suggestions -- and we already know they have (at least on a good day).

They call things like that aging gracefully. And such habits make all conversation more civil. Some consider it the very difference between conversing with and preaching at.

A sharp tongue gets you nothing but people afraid to give you feedback. That never improved anyone's writing style. Nobody on earth has such a magnificent writing style that refinement is impossible.

See how much more adult and civil that is than, unhappy lad, get that twist out of your knickers?

I saw this a couple days ago and didn't know what to make of it because the claim seems so outrageous. My younger brother the spy told me something I'd not considered: Biden has been shipping illegals all over the USA and there is no data available concerning who is where, or how many may be in a region. So when someone claims "thousands are dead" in the hills of TN and NC, it should not be dismissed out of hand.

"Buncombe County, North Carolina Sheriff Quentin Miller has told the Daily Express that over 1,000 people have been reported missing in his county alone, making the likely number of missing across the state in the many thousands.

It is now over eight days since the storm dissipated.

General Michael Flynn, a former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency nominated by Barack Obama in 2012, said in an interview yesterday:

“We need a full mobilization right now…if you put me in charge, we would have an entire active duty division, because the active duty division more than the National Guard..the 82nd Airborne has capabilities that can be there in two hours… with large packages of the full compliment of [supplies and equipment.”]

“We have the full ability in this country to take care of them right now.”

Thus far the Harris/Biden administration has activated only limited “elements” of the fabled Ft. Bragg based division.... "

A Facebook page has been established for people to post information about missing loved ones.

I think I am not swayed by hysterics. And her claims about this being a "unique" natural disaster are falling on deaf ears. Yes, people lose their homes in floods, mudslides and landslides, pretty much anywhere. She claims that storms near the ocean are just water coming in and going back out? Yeah, well houses and structures can go out with the water. Has she seen the aftermath of a wildfire? People come home to nothing but a cement foundation. Earthquakes can turn structures into a pile of rubble. Tornados can be devastating, and destroy homes down to the foundation.

So yes, I believe that homes are destroyed and help is not coming from the government. It is no doubt the worst damage that she has ever seen in her lifetime. But body counts are often exaggerated in the heat of the disaster. We shall see over time where the truth lies.

Get a load of this and see what you think:

I think we have two long time members who live there and another running in and out constantly. We've heard from all three. If the treetops were full of bodies we'd very likely have heard...

Fair points, all. However, in a world gone mad I tend toward caution in not dismissing out of hand even what seems unlikely because... well, world gone mad. I posted the link in the hopes of getting reasonable opinions on the matter and I've gotten some.

Now to all the claimed guardsmen and pilots who claim FEMA is sitting on their hands... it does raise the question of who these people might be, if not whom they claim. What's the payoff here? Raising confusion? A toddler's fascination with being able to move his hands? Something intentionally evil?

World gone mad, indeed.
