I come to a strategical conclusion last night. Someone else mentioned Ron Paul at a birthday party I went to last night. None of these people are politically involved and largely don't care. I simply asked my apathetic friends that if I brought over the papers and I mailed them in and drove them to the California's primary in June if theyd vote for Paul. Long story short, theres going to be a registration party coming up, and I'll be driving more than ten people to the polls for the California primary.

The conclusion, after fruitlessly debating and reaching out to politically active groups like my Republican family and the occupy group at my University, UC Davis, I won a ton of votes by reaching out to friends who really don't care. My new strategy is to go after easy votes rather than trying to convert political activists.

Appeal to people's apathy and laziness, its much easier than trying to convince people philosophically.

Nice, I think the independents and usually unpolitical people are game changers. Before I stumbled across Ron this year I would consider myself not interested or caring about Politics. I thought it was all bad, pointless and irrelevant to my life. He changed all that for me and made me question it all.

I think he has this effect on many who don't usually vote, so I'm truly hoping this silent majority turns out for him during the polls.

Hahahahaha that's an awesome plan something almost anyone can copy! :D

Its not so much that Ron Paul appeals to them, but Im doing most the work for them and driving them to the polls. I'm prone to ranting and trying to fire people up or get them into Ron Paul. This time I just said I'll help you fill out the registration forms and we can convoy to the polls and go get lunch, and it worked great.

Arguing the issues just entrenches people, just make it easy and fun and unpolitical. Dumb it down.

That aint a bad plan. Think of it as picking up undecideds

Support seems to follow a positive feedback loop. The more support a candidate has, the more support they gain... It seems like people like to pick a winner and will support who seems like they are going to win.

Try it next time your with non political friends. Dumb it down, offer to do most the work, a make it a social event. Ignore policy positions, politics and ideals. IT WORKS. and getting votes is what matters.

People are also attracted to free food!::D

Also look into the absentee ballot rules in your state.
It is possible to have an absentee voting party where you help everybody get the right forms, etc.
Then you don't even have to go to the polls with them.

Hahaha! This is so funny, but so great. There are literally millions of people who don't give a carp about politics and have never voted in their lives.

May as well take advantage of the fact that they care, while they're doing something for you at the same time. And you've taken care of all the nitty-gritty details: registration forms, transportation, etc.

Votes are votes, and anyone who helps to elect Ron Paul can revel in the victory when it happens.

LOVE IT. :)

I'm gonna try to get a hold of my great-aunt, who at the age of 75, has never voted in her life. What the hell?

OMG, it just keeps getting better. I'll buy the champagne. : )

I have my wifes friend voting for Paul in the NY primary for the sole reason that I asked her to.. HAHAHAH

Listen , lets go for all the low hanging fruit.

This thread makes me sad too.

I can only hope that people end up watching a youtube clip of Ron Paul and getting awakened. This election is about Ron Paul winning, yes, but it's also about awakening people. I don't want to win on the back of the sleeping masses. This thread makes it sound like that's our plan, and that's simply untrue. We're waking people up by the millions.

Okay...Let's change the mood here.

How about a thread that talks about how to throw a GET OUT THE APATHETIC VOTER party?

1.Invite all your friends who have never voted.
2.Decorate your place with bunting and flags.
3. Have voter registration forms available.
4. Have lots of great food and drinks available.
5. SHOW RON PAUL VIDEOS.

WINNING.

On the bright side, there are millions of people who probably voted for the first time in their lives for Obama. They all see how disastrous THAT turned out.

Somehow, his thread makes me sad. Well, and happy. Bittersweet, I guess.

I'm sure at one point we were all apathetic.. More people just need to be woken up to whats going on ... I didnt give a sh** about politics except following the family tradition of voting down the R line every election season.. It was not until I saw a debate clip of the scrap between Paul and Giuliani re: 9/11 when the lightbulb went on..
