"US ARMY VETERAN, WWII" "1,776.00"
Holy wow. That *can't* be coincidence. Hence, that can't be a summation of multiple donors who listed the same 'employer'. Thus, the most likely/logical explanation is that it must be a single individual who donated that amount.
That old 'coot' didn't pick that number out of a hat. He knew
exactly what it meant, and why it's so important, God bless him (he grew up back when students actually learned about the Constitution in their 'Civics' class). This is exactly the sort of thing that is newsworthy, and should be one of the human interest stories of the campaign.
I think somone at national should pick this up and run with it. As far as the press is concerned, the story practically writes itself:
"Mr. X came to the campaign's attention when grassroots supporters were combing through FEC statistics [which other candidates supporters are motivated enough to do this?!?] and saw a donation from a 'US ARMY VETERAN, WWII,' to the tune of 1776 dollars. Intrigued, the staff in Ron Paul's national office went through their own records, trying to put a name to a donation, and ultimately came up with Mr. X, whom they later contacted......."
[I hereby renounce any copyright claim to the above italicized text, and any/all derivatives, mainly so that any reporter thus inclined can copy wholesale and have an easier time of getting a pro-Paul story out there.]
P.S. Thanks for bringing that to our attention on pg.3, gerryb!
