This could be huge for Ron Paul.
Jesse Benton, Ron Paul's campaign chair, is saying that there are reports Florida may announce tomorrow that they plan to allow proportional delegates.
Here's what that means.
Traditionally Florida is a winner take all state. Meaning whoever wins the primary there gets all the delegates. If they change the rules and divide up the delegates proportionally among the top finishers -- and it has been rumored in the past they were considering it -- it means that Ron Paul could compete in Florida.

Our county leader mentioned this. He quoted Florida law about it. It's legit. It's WHY GRASSROOTS WONT GIVE UP IN FLORIDA. Stop believing the press that Romney is pushing!

We need to get money for Florida...

Money is SOOOOOOOO important now...

Have to give til it hurts !!!!!

The campaign should just lie to us and tell us that they are going to compete hard in Florida. Nobody would really notice the difference between spending 2 million or 300k in ads. As long as our grassroots are motivated we will get some votes.

Winner takes all costs a lot. To take 2nd or 3rd splits the delegates. 20 15 10 whoop ti do.. it keeps things close!!!

Advertising costs a lot in Florida. Millions. As do mailers, paid staff, etc. Ron has never competed as a top tier candidate in a huge primary.

We should wait the next week and see how the polls play out. We might have a solid 2nd and maybe not have to put much into Florida.

lets hope the campaign galvanizes one and all to meet this new oppertunity head on!
we should pore everything and the kitchen sink into florida if this opens up the state!

They just need a motivated well trained grass roots. Having people motivated is more important than spending money.

Saw a PPP tweet about FL... Looks like they will pick up a bit with the FL polls now.

Advertising costs a lot period. Jeez.. 825k to buy 1 week tv ad in 9/10 Florida markets (ex Miami). Your whole beef was that it wasn't worth it because no delegates at stake for a 2nd place finish.

Now delegates might be at stake and you are tooting the Ron Paul has never competed as a top tier in a huge primary.

I have maintained the entire time that Florida is worth competing in because of the fact a fired up grassroots gets more donations for later contest. I have conceded that spending money to get delegates is a waste if you are not gunning for 1st in a wta scenario.

Yes, it's all about delegates, but every single delegate comes at a price. That price is paid by people like me in Florida who knows that my state is going to deliver delegates (until maybe now).

You want to keep the idea going for the campaign to forget about Florida. WHY?

What do you know of how much it will cost the campaign to turn Florida in to a winner?

In general, if you don't put much into state, especially a big state, then you won't get much out of it.

lets hope the campaign galvanizes one and all to meet this new oppertunity head on!

At some point the Law of Diminishing Returns kicks in. Plus, you don't want to throw everything into Florida. Cuz, what if it don't work out? Then Paul won't have anything left for the next states and no victory in Florida to keep momentum going.

Two take-aways. One, the Paul campaign has deeply analyzed this election cycle and has developed a comprehensive strategy to win. Changing horses midstream is never a 'good' idea. Two, in Florida, don't spend to little and don't spend too much. This all depends on Florida being proportional vs winner-take-all and how much money the campaign raises.

edit- The above post is for the campaign mainly. Grassroots, do whatever you think can best help Dr. Paul win the nomination.

As I already said, and Ron has said, and Benton has said - The campaign would need more money to compete in Florida, hence why I said they need a ticker - because despite your insistence that it doesn't - it costs a lot.

That $825,000 number you talk about would play a 30-second ad 7 times in the 9 markets. It's crazy expensive.
