THE RON PAUL CHRISTMAS CONVERSION

We all know how important the vote of Christian Right is.

A User on this forum (I forget who it is) developed this issues flyer: http://files.meetup.com/509308/christian_sunrise.pdf

It is geared at Born Again Christians. It is excellent.

All of us, Every last one of us (Christian or non) should be standing outside churches on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day handing out these flyers. Print them out, buy them, whatever.

It won't take all day. You would really only need to be there when the mass ends, and you could just target one time. A lot of us might be going to church anyway; just take 10 minutes either before or after the service and hand out these to people as they enter/exit. These churches aren't scattered about like smaller churches. There is usually GIGANTIC and every Born Again from 5 towns goes there. You need at ton of them, organize them with your meetup group. You could even go from church to church, etc.

The big giant evangelical churches are what we want here. They have massive turnout, and group mentality. They also have multiple exits, which is why you need more than one person.

This could be absolutely massive.

Ideas?

Is this something that would actually convince Christians? I have no idea because well I'm not christian.

Well, it's not about trying to convince anyone. Ron Paul and his message does all the convincing necessary.

The trick is giving people a reason to explore Ron Paul. That's why this is a great flyer. It gives RP's stances on Christian issues, that way when a Christian reads it, they say "Oh, that's how I feel too". Then they have a reason to want to look into Ron Paul.

Once they look into him, they will be converted.

The message is what really sells.

It's a great idea, but the language needs to be altered. I might work on it a bit tonight. My evangelical grandfather is coming into town tonight, so after I convert him to the light of the revolution, then I can have him help me with this.

We just can't let these christians be lazy and jump on the huckabee bandwagon. They need to think and study the choices like everybody else!

I voted no and I'll tell you why. I think Christmas Day at church is a bit questionable. I could see it rubbing church goers the wrong way, but I dont practice any more so its not like I have my finger on the pulse.

I do commend you because you have been putting some thoughtful ideas out there.

Thanks, I appreciate your opinion. It may upset some people, you might be right.

But, it could be very subtle then, you could just leave the flyers on one of those tables they have near the exits.

Well yeah, we definately shouldn't do it on Christmas day. But that isn't important. I would do it this Sunday or next Sunday.

If you're going to be handing out fliers such as this at churches and on their property, they will not be happy. You 'might mess up' their tax-free status.

That's fine too.

Doing it on Christmas Eve day would also work. The Church near me has a mass at 3:00 PM. That wouldn't be too abrasive.

I agree with much of what's been said -- the idea in general is a good one, but the language needs to be changed, and Christmas is a bad time to do this.

As for the language -- it's too wordy and the message isn't clear. Bible verses or references are needed.

As for the timing -- obviously using the Christmas service would send the wrong message. Also keep in mind that many mega-churches actually experience reduced church attendance over the holidays, because many young families spend Christmas with their parents. It depends on the church and the geographic area. So, while Dec. 30 would get the word out before the Iowa caucus, that probably isn't important anywhere but Iowa, and you risk not reaching the critical younger demographic. I would wait and do this the 6th or 13th.

I've been fairly entrenched in "born again" Christian culture for quite some time and would be happy to work on this if people think it would be helpful. But I can't get to it until tomorrow night at the earliest.

Aldanga might be right. You might end up being asked to leave. Here's how you can get around that -- many mega-churches have serious traffic jams when exiting the parking lot. You could stand on the corner and give it to people while they're bored waiting in their cars. Also would probably be a good idea to add a disclaimer like "This does not represent the views of any church or denomination."

I don't know if this has any sway with the Christians, but I believe that I read that two of his brothers are pastors or something like that?

I second that... Christmas is suppose to be a day that celebrates the birth of Christ not as they might think some politician named "Ron Paul".

It's a good idea any other time but not on Christmas esp. since RP doesn't wear his faith on his sleeve.

I do not think it is wise to do it right by a church. People are not there to learn about politics.
Re read about the money changers. Christ did not want business going on in the church. Not for reasons stated.
Also, having 2 brothers in the religion business is a real plus that should be on there. I think it should also state that it is not a flier from the campaign. Of course, I am not a Christian either, but I do know a LOT of Americans somehow took offense at the politician christmas ads, alone. (I only took offense at Huck's, tho).

You may be asked to stop by church officials if you do not ask for permission to be on their property handing out your material. Perhaps one week before go to some of the mega churches and ask the pastor if he would allow it. Show him the flyer and talk to him about the doc.

Since most people seem to agree that going to churches could end up backfiring, I think some of the better places to hit up would be where Christians hang out. Sunday brunches are BIG. Buffet style restaurants tend to get packed after morning church services let out. Another place would be Christian coffee houses and bookstores.

Not that there is anything wrong with what’s been shared already, but I have a tri-fold I made up a while back that everyone is welcome to as well. It was actually sent to national after the local office saw it and they discussed whether or not to distribute it themselves… but you know how national HQ can be. I think there was one photo they had an issue with but I didn’t find out until a month later. Anyway, if anybody wants it, you can get it here:

They are available in slightly higher quality and rotated for printing (in a zip file) here:
