marketing to the Meetups

Guys,

Just an FYI. I was working my state (Texas), drilling down to each Meetup contact representative, and sending them a notice with a link to the meetup challenge. I got the following message tonight:

"Sorry, to help avoid unwanted email (spam), we limit the number of Meetup Organizers you can contact to 25 over any 30 day period. You have reached this limit."

Didn't know if anyone else had hit this snag yet, so I'm out of commission for thirty days. The only way I see around this is to get two Meetup contacts to contact two Meetups each.

Given this limitation on communication, we probably should post a note on one of these forums for Meetup contacts to get in touch with us, and then we can get them the plan to cover each state.

Anyone want to post a communication requesting meetup contact help?

I just posted this on the main page

Please help our website

Folks,

A team of us has built a website that ties Meetup group member pledges to their group, and state of residence. Each Meetup within each state is represented.

www.ronpaulmeetupchallenge.com

The national page is a map of each state, and a cursor rollover gives high level statistics for each state. Clicking within the state yields pledge data for the state, but more importantly, shows each meetup's participation.

The level of participation is picking up on the site, and it's quite fun to see the stats, but attempts to notify the Meetup contacts within each organization using the Meetup platform causes red flags at Meetup to prohibit spam. The Meetup platform only allows 25 messages to other Meetup groups within 30 days.

Thus, a workaround is required that involves people taking various states and contacting two other meetups within the state to notify them of the site. I've done just this in Texas, and we now lead the nation in pledges, but I got stopped out by the Meetup limitation.

Please visit the site, and let me know if you would like to take a state. You can see how many Meetups are in the state by clicking the state.

We need volunteers to contact meetup groups and tell them about the challenge! We built this site for the people of the RP forums because YOU asked for it and now we must all pull together and get the word out.

Please massage me if you can help with YOUR state.

Thank you

a few changes

I think we need to post more meetup type statistics. We're seeing new groups form each time the database gets swept. Also, new people are being added to the movement, and I think we ought to report on changes, much like $ donations roll accross the screen, we could show new meetups, and addtions to meetups.

There's been talk of running a days counter to the convention, which I think is an appropriate time to end this site.

Let's see if we can give the meetup members a reason to share this site with their group.

Scott R mentioned that we're going to be doing some updates...are these ideas involved? If not, maybe we can add them in while we're on the next round of updates.

For the MeetUp contacting, I'm pretty close to that limit I think. I've got two other MeetUp members I can get to do some contacting. Is there a strategy we're using now for getting the word out? Do we have any recruits? If it was some poor unsuspecting online poll, RPF would be all over it like flies on butter :)

Is this for a money bomb or what? I cant find a date on the site ... it only says 13 million to go all the way

its a contest

It is a work in progress, a contest of sorts among the Ron Paul meetup groups to see who can raise the most money.
