We know it constantly gets brought up how much Howard Dean raised online during his campaign. We've been told how Ron Paul is big on the Internet... but his fundraising can't compare to Dean's. Well, we can forget about that pretty soon.



In the 4th quarter of 2003, Dean raised $15.95 Million. That's going down by 8pm eastern time today

It's just about limiting the criticisms.


If we weren't raising big money, EVERYBODY would be saying "Ron Paul has a lot of support, but he just can't win without money." Then after the first money bomb everyone said "Boy, Ron Paul can raise money.... still, Howard Dean blows him away." They also said, "He's raising money, but he's only showing at about 2-3% in the polls in early states".... another thing they can't say anymore.


It's just one less thing they can bash us for.

No. Republicans have traditionally raised more. It's just in this election that the Democrats have vastly out-raised Republicans. This isn't really surprising since this is the first time when Republicans are poised to lose badly.

No, that is historical revisionism. His campaign was over before the scream.


I've explained this to people before. If you look at the New Hampshire daily tracking polls, Dean's numbers tanked in the 3-4 days after Iowa. After that, his numbers began picking up quickly. If the NH primaries had happened 4 days later than they actually happened, Dean would have won. Meanwhile, it took a couple of days for the Dean Scream to really go viral. So his numbers tanked because of the Iowa results, and actually increased as more people became aware of the scream.


Not that the scream HELPED him... just that it had a negligible effect on the campaign. He was going to lose anyway. His collapse in Iowa killed him.


Remember, Dean's support was a lot softer than Paul's. Dean got a TON of media hype early in the campaign. He was on the cover of Time and Newsweek the same week! Can you imagine Paul's numbers if he got that kind of love? In mid-December the media started to turn. They built Dean up just to tear him down. And that's why he lost. To a lesser extent they did the same thing to Fred Thompson. And they're in the process of doing the same thing to Huckabee.

The media has built up the Dean Scream as the cause of the collapse because they don't want to admit that they were the real reason Dean gained his popularity and then lost it.

I watched that live when it happened. I just laughed and thought little of it.

No Dean died out not because of the Dean Scream but because his "movement" lost steam. People began to lose faith in the movement because they didn't manage to win Iowa. The MSM was hyping up his campaign we never have MSM hype. Therefore we never get dejected because we always surpass what people expect us to do. We don't have bandwagon supporters like Dean, we are ideologically sold on Dr. Paul. Ideologically Dean is not different from any other Democrat. In fact, he's so ideologically in line with the Democrats he became the DNC fund raising chairman. The closest political analogy to this campaign I can think of is the Jesse Ventura campaign up in Minnesota.
