How will Ron Paul get his ideas through Congress?

Personally I'm not looking for a candidate that is going to agree with the do-nothings in Congress. But this gets brought up a lot, people saying that his ideas will never pass through Congress?

We will help him. We have here the most powerful Polital Action Committee in the U.S.A.....

WE THE PEOPLE!!!

if anyone can get his ideas through to Congress, it's Ron Paul. 20 years on The Hill, and I would imagine he has a handle on things.

The Revolution won't stop at us just electing Ron Paul, we have to push for Congressmen/women and Senators that follow the same ideals.

Ron Paul isn't going to be overnight success for America, sure he will make a huge impact but we're going to have to dig outselves out of the.. (rhymes with Lusterbuck) that the past 8 years have brought upon us.

He can address foreign policy, border policy, and civil liberties without Congress, and he can use the veto pen to freeze government taxation and spending at current levels (which is effectively a cut if they're not indexed to inflation). All that will contribute positively and significantly to the economy. That will in turn make him very popular, consequently sweeping supporters of President Paul into office.

As president, he will be able to speak directly to the American people pretty much whenever he wants. All he has to do is get support from the people, and we can push for sweeping changes through congress.

If he gets into office it will be a clear signal to congress of what the people want. If they don't get the signal, then they lose their jobs. Most of them being political opportunists, they will see which way the political winds are blowing and jump on board the revolution.

Sure some of them are ideologues, but keeping their jobs trumps ideology.

We could have a website to track all the reps and senators voting records, create a pro-RP score for each of them. Then we'll know who to target for replacement in future elections, and they'll know too. Every two years we'll have the chance to support replacements and it will get easier for him after each election. Plus it will put pressure on them while they are in office, like stated above.

You are exactly right. Between 2008 and 2010 we will have to lean on our congressmen. In 2010 we will have to elect new blood. Existing reps will have to get on board or get out.

He will win with a MANDATE, that is congress fights... they will loose.

This is a great idea and something I have spoke about with another supporter. There are some things in place but it needs some work.

There's paulcongress.com too...

Yep, have been to that site, and I voted for Barry Hess last year. I had a chance to meet him in June at a Ron Paul rally, so I told him that I was very proud of my vote for him and hope that he runs for Governor again in 2010.

I recently found out about http://paulcongress.com/ too. Seems like there is a real movement brewing! I would even run for office if I were a citizen. (I am a permanent resident).

He will have some executive tools available to him. With these will shut down the IRS de facto. This will force the Congress' hand on spending issues.

You also have to realize by just electing Ron as president it sends a message to congress. Trust me, they want to be re-elected.

You also have to remember that it is a system of checks and balances. Many of the issues facing us today are unconstitutional. If Dr. Paul wants something changed and its unconstitutional, all he has to do is bring it up with the Supreme Court for a ruling. Also as previosly stated he will have the support of the people behind him. He just needs to bring the issues to the people in a national broadcast and the congress will know whats up. Additionally if we can get him voted in with a landslide that will send a very clear message to the legislative branch.
