How will humans cope with the advances in technology that are coming - more specifically, those aspects of technology that will integrate into us? In the past we used machines to make life easier but now we are starting to make machines that are alive, more and more every day. And also, with nanotechnology we will put machines into us that potentially could alter our race, gender and longevity.

Are we ready for what is coming?

Maybe that is why we don't hear too much from outer space?

They might simply wait for the actual intelligence to appear before engaging in communication with habitants of this planet. Why would you want to talk to us anyway at this stage ?

Sad that at the same time people in places like America are getting dumber our machines are getting smarter. Sort of like Idiocracy meets Battlestar Galactica.

Maybe they are red neck hillbilly goobers with only three teeth. Since that is who they really seem to prefer to abduct. ;) :D

I would go cyborg as long as I can keep my brain.

This show has humans, transhumans and androids:

People say the show creeps them out. It exploits a phenomenon called the uncanny valley, where some people have an aversion to figures that closely resemble the human. In the first 3 episodes, we have only seen 3 or 4 of the androids in depth, but the actors are good enough to pull it off. There are times while watching it that I forget these androids are just people performing. It gets more meta- some newer-version androids act like older versions who are programmed to act like humans. The transhumans (well, 1 we know about so far) don't have that effect.

Where it looks to be going, the transhumans are doing something to the androids that goes beyond the understanding of the original human makers. The new androids are building a control structure around the humans for the purposes of self-defense.
