Update + The Final Appeal to Win Iowa
SUMMARY:
Our ads have reached 200,000 Iowans on Facebook in the past 24 hours.
To reach the other 600,000 Iowans, we need to raise $4,000 in the next 24 hours.
>>> DONATE HERE. <<<
Folks, thank you for following along with this so far, and a special thanks to everyone who donated.
Here is a full update with numbers from the two-day Iowa ad blitz.
Campaign Reach - "The number of individual people who saw ads in this campaign during the dates selected. This is different than impressions, which includes people seeing them multiple times."
Frequency - "The average number of times each person saw your campaign's ads."
Impressions - The number of times one of the campaign's ads displayed on a user's screen.
CPM - Average cost per 1,000 impressions
CPC - Average cost per click for all the campaign's ads
Social Reach - Irrelevant for external links
Connections - Irrelevant for external links
Spend - The dollar amount spent only on the Iowa campaign - mostly Ron Paul caucus ads, with a few anti-Santorum ads.
Clicks - How many times people clicked through to the link with caucus info (or anti-Santorum article)
CTR - Click-through rate. How many times people click per impression. Low is good, because it means we get a LOT of people seeing each ad. High CTR would result in the same number of clicks but thousands less people seeing the ad.
Targeted - The total number of Iowans targeted by at least one of the campaign's ads, currently
819,300.
So as of now, our ads have displayed over 3.6 million times in 48 hours, being seen by 204,000+ Iowans an average of 17.6 times each. More than 1,000 people clicked through to receive information on where to caucus for Ron Paul.
Here are the stats for each ad.
Here is each ad. The description text refers to the ad title in the above graphic so you can see each ad's statistics.

ANALYSIS:
Reaching 20-25% of Iowans on Facebook cost about $1,000.
As of this post, the ChipIn (at
this link) has raised $1,242.
Yesterday's (12/31) ad spend was already charged...
... but not yet today's $800. Right now there is $1,155 in the account...
So after the $800 is charged tomorrow, the account will be down to just
$355.
To continue the current pace, and amplify it for GOTV purposes on Tuesday,
we need another infusion of money. Fast.
There are two options.
Either I scale back the statewide ads, and just spend the last few hundred dollars on narrowly targeted ads to Dems/Indys in hopes of increasing turnout a bit.
Or I can scale everything up, set the daily ad budget to my maximum of $2,000/day, create additional Ron Paul ads targeted at any potential caucusgoer, ask y'all to help create additional attack ads against Santorum and Romney, plan out a huge $2,000 GOTV ad blitz for Tuesday, and spend a total of $4,000 over the next two days in a bid to saturate the entire state, reaching each and every age 17+ Iowan on Facebook - all 819,300 of them.
For a rough approximation what will be the final numbers if we throw that much money at this, multiply the above numbers by four.
It will result in:
- 12,000,000+ ad impressions
- 800,000+ Iowans seeing our ads an average of ~17 times each
- 4,000+ Iowans clicking through to receive information on how to caucus for Ron Paul
- ... and a whole lot of people getting a positive impression of Ron Paul and negative impressions of Santorum and Romney
I ask you: is it worth you throwing down $25, $100, $500 or more to make that happen?
Worth taking responsibility to make 100% sure we raise at least $4,000 in the next 24 hours?
If this makes the difference between 1st and 2nd -- or a blowout 1st vs a close 1st -- won't that have been worth it?
Remember: it's not just the people who click through that matter. Putting enough money behind this can result in our ad being seen at the TOP of the ad list for hundreds of thousands of people. Taken together, that is a HUGE psychological impact. It gives an impression of momentum, and creates conversation-starters, especially with the Santorum ads.
Most importantly, these ads can motivate new turnout.
Tonight's PPP poll analysis again confirmed that turnout will determine who wins. Here is their
tweet from a few hours ago:
"Young voters and indys unusual winning formula for GOP caucus but if Paul really gets them out he can win."
If Paul REALLY gets out the young voters and independents, he can win. This ad blitz can do that.
The hour is late. Time to throw everything we have at this last-minute ad blitz. It could make the difference.
Because I think you all will support me in this, I went ahead and flipped the switch to set the daily ad spend to $2,000/day.
That means $2,000 will be spent throughout the day Monday. And on Tuesday morning when it tries to charge me, it will either be successful - thanks to a successful ChipIn drive - or the payment will fail and all my ads will stop running on caucus day. I don't think the accumulated might of RPF would let that happen.
Let's get this rolling.
Please make your most generous donation at the ChipIn link HERE, then spread this link around. (Here's the link direct to this post.) Get your friends to donate. Your roommate, your momma, your weird neighbors. Whatever, just get it done. Oh, and there's no contribution limit.
Any funds above what we can possibly spend to impact Iowa will be rolled over to New Hampshire.
And can we get a sticky on this thread? And/or a link included at the top of the forums?
Please feel free to respond with ideas for raising money or spending it. Specifically I need help crafting a good anti-Romney ad, and other anti-Santorum and pro-Paul ads.
GIT R DONE
