How to reach 3,000 Iowans for $10 - POTENTIAL GAME-CHANGER - ChipIn to Win Iowa

I'm not sure what you're meaning by "today" and "tomorrow". You're saying "well, we've got the $2k we need for today, and it's just starting running, but we need extra for tomorrow." The caucus is only about 20 hours away.

This is what you just wrote, 10 minutes ago "We have enough money to max out ($2,000) today, but we need ~$500 more to max out tomorrow for the GOTV blitz."

TODAY is caucus day. TODAY is TUESDAY. TOMORROW is WEDNESDAY. It's now 12:23 am EST Tuesday, January 3. The caucus will start 7:00 pm CST Tuesday, January 3. You need to get everything out there in the next 19 and a half hours.

T

Apologies - I'm on the west coast. Still 'today' here for me. Also, Facebook's clock is on PST. The end of 'today' by Facebook's standards is 12am PT / 3am ET. At that time, the daily ad spend is reset to 0. I'm at $1,967 spent for the day, so will easily hit $2k today. I have set the GOTV ad blitz for tomorrow to yes, include "today" instead of "Tuesday", and set it to spend all the money ($2k - I'm assuming this will be funded) before 6:15pm CT. If on Wednesday morning when it tries to charge me the $2k and I don't have it in my account, it will pause all my ads, which I will then be running for New Hampshire.

Hopefully that makes sense. I'm trying to eat while setting up ads on second and third FB accounts I just got access to.

Will post full breakdown in a couple hours once I get these other accounts fully rolling.

So far the "Very Liberal" Santorum ad has been seen by 46,620 Iowans age 35+ an average of 8.4 times, all in the past 2 hours, and clicked on 129 times - linked to the CNN article with Ron Paul talking smack.

And the "Is Santorum Pro-Choice?" ad has been seen by 39,850 Iowan conservatives an average of 16.1 times, spread out over the past 24 hours, and clicked on 222 times - linked to the Newsmax article mentioned above.

Back to work...

You've been on top of this, it's possible you could've missed it, I didn't realize NH was involved as well, all good. you'll want to shoot out everything by 7pm CST today Tuesday of this batch. But, again, you seem on top of it.

In my opinion, you should now stop the Santorum attack ads and focus ENTIRELY on get-out-the-vote ads. It's too late to attack Santorum, we've done that work now. We need to make sure that ALL our supporters caucus for Ron Paul to win. GOTV! Focus on getting out the vote, especially our blue republican base.

Also, the Santorum attack ads link to article on CNN etc. Do we really want grassroots money to be giving traffic to these sites. I really don't like running the attack ads. The CNN website has loads of anti-Paul articles, I'd rather not be sending people there.

PLEASE focus ENTIRELY on getting out the vote. It's honestly a much, much, much more productive allocation of resources.

So on my throwaway facebook account I just changed my homestate to Iowa, so that I can see what type of ads they're getting. Facebook has a banner of 5 ads running on the side. While i'm generally seeing some Paul ads, there are more ads for other candidates (put together) than Paul ads. Perry, Romney, and Bachmann figure prominently.

Should we max out our bid price on maybe 8 separate ads so that we flood it and prevent the others from getting clicks? This could help greatly, although it would be expensive.

It's so important that we focus on GOTV. We need to stop running ALL the attack ads. They are pointless now. We need to make sure all our support gets out and Caucuses for Ron Paul. Our success DEPENDS on getting out the vote. If we GOTV, we win. If we don't, we lose. We have more supporters than Santorum. We just need to make sure they turn out. We don't need to convince Santorum supporters not to vote Frothy. We just need to make sure they are outnumbers in the precincts by Ron Paul people.

Focus on the GET OUT THE VOTE ads!!!! Get RID of all the OTHER attack ads!

this.

also this might be unethical, but its not like they're being ethical to us.

we should make a couple of throw away account and click on the iowa ads for the other candidates like crazy. then we'll make them run out of money for the ads..

Haha yeah I was thinking about that. I'm not sure if they'll charge though if it's all coming from one or two ip addresses.

Took Facebook awhile to approve my latest batch of ads, but oh MAN I have some good ones. And targeting a LOT of people...

Will post a full update tonight. For now here's a small sample :)

Ron Paul ads direct to http://iowaforpaul.com

Santorum ad directs to http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/02/ron-paul-santorum-is-very-liberal/

I've never set a $2,000/day ad budget before, but let's see what this can do ... :)

We're still ~$600 shy of being able to MAX OUT tomorrow.

PLEASE DONATE HERE: http://iowaadblitz.chipin.com/iowa-ad-blitz

I can't stress enough how much of a waste of money that Santorum ad is. Spend it on the GOTV effort. Conservatives don't trust a liberal news source like CNN. Directing people to CNN also harms us because they have a load of smears about us on there too. All the other campaigns are attacking Santorum. Santorum supporters are unlikely to switch to Ron Paul. We have more support than Sanotrum already. As long as our support caucuses for Ron Paul we will win. Money spent on Santorum attack ads is money that could otherwise be spent on getting-out-the-vote.

This facebook ads intiatives is GREAT, honestly superb stuff. But please, please, please for the sake of victory get rid of all the attack ads and focus ENTIRELY on getting-out-the-vote. GOTV is pivotal.

Is it just me who feels this way? Because I can't push this point enough, it matters a lot. $2k worth of facebook ads makes a huge difference, let's make sure we direct it all at GOTV. If we GOTV, we win. Simple as.

Yep already stopped the Santorum ads. Just GOTV now. Big update in a few minutes.

BIG UPDATE:

Thanks to our gracious donors, we were able to spend my full daily max of $2,000 yesterday (Monday).

But we are still $419 shy of our goal of $2,000 today. Please donate HERE --> http://iowaadblitz.chipin.com/iowa-ad-blitz

So far our ads have displayed over 7,900,000 times to 340,000 individual Iowans, an average of 21.7 times each.

~280,000 Iowans saw our professional-looking ads for Ron Paul, an average of ~20 times each.

621 people clicked through to IowaForPaul.com to receive info on how to caucus for Ron Paul.

Somewhere between 50,000 and 80,000 Iowans saw negative ads against Santorum, either calling him a big spender or a pro-life fraud for supporting Specter over Toomey.

359 people clicked through to the anti-Santorum articles.

Here's the breakdown:

First big pic has all ads for the entire 3-day campaign, organized descending by # of reach (individual people who saw each ad) - and figures slightly inflated with the first hour of today's ad spend.

stats2.jpg

Second pic has just ads active on Day 3, organized descending by CPC (cost per click).

statsss.jpg

[ Long, technical explanation of CPC - feel free to skip: Roughly, higher CPC gives the ad higher priority to run. When Facebook decides which ad to serve, mine or a competitors', it compares CPC. If Romney's people are willing to spend $1 on one click, and I say I'm willing to spend $3, then our ad shows up instead of theirs - or ours shows above theirs on the same page - and we pay $1.01 if someone clicks on it. For this ad blitz, I erred on the side of high CPC - because I wanted to ensure both that we spent all $2,000 before the daily ad spend reset to 0. (If we didn't spend it tonight, we wouldn't get to spend any more the next day because the limit would still be $2,000 - and these funds were raised to be spent before Iowa, not rolled over to NH unless absolutely necessary.) And also because I wanted Ron Paul's ads showing on top of everyone else's ads - it would be a cool psychological edge for the 342,000 people who saw our ads if they saw us consistently outpositioning Romney/Santorum/whomever. That's the long explanation for why the CPC is so high for the top ads. You can see in the rightmost column that the actual CPC rarely came close to the CPC I marked that I was willing to pay. The only time you really run into trouble using this tactic is if some equally aggressive advertiser is on the other team. The fact that no one else is playing that game shows me the other side are either noobs or just don't care to gain the psychological edge we are gaining with little competition. ]

Third pic has the GOTV ads running today on my account:

Fourth pic has the GOTV ads running today on another RPF member's account - he is letting us charge an additional $2,000 to his credit card for new ads I set up. The ads just recently got Facebook's approval.

All ads paused except...

My $2k:

Caucus Day - All Liberals - Antiwar - http://lalibertyhq.com/files/gotvnowar.jpg

Caucus Day - Liberals - http://iowaforpaul.com/files/ad2g.jpg
Caucus Day - Liberals&Politics - http://iowaforpaul.com/files/ad3g.jpg

Note the sky-high CPC. We are not being out-bid, and I don't expect we will be. When people see these ads, they are at the top of the list.

Open to suggestions for more/different ads. I think this is a good spread to start.

After yesterday's $2,000 is taken out of my PayPal account today, I'll have $1,581 remaining in the account.

3581.jpg

Which means I will need $419 more to let my ads run their full course today.

Can you throw $25 into this history-making effort?

DONATE HERE --> http://iowaadblitz.chipin.com/iowa-ad-blitz

Please donate now to get this done so we have momentum (and maybe some leftover funds) to carry into the New Hampshire blitz.

Here's a sneak peak of that. More details after we hit $2,000 today...

Great stuff.

Have you got one targetting those in Iowa who declare themself Liberal but like the Ron Paul page? That would help get our Blue Republican voters caucusing.

Broken ad links fixed now. Yes, those people would be eligible to see both the Liberal ads above. Casting a relatively wide net to ensure we are able to spend our full budget while it still matters.
