How to Convert a Die-hard Huck Supporter?

There are only 2 reasons anyone would support the Hack:

1) Decieved Christian, who accepts marching orders from the corrupt pulpit, instead of actually reading and interpreting scripture for himself. If your friend starts actually following Christ, instead of preachers, he will abandon Hackubee -- especially given the degree of Hack's corruption. After all, even Hackubee admitted, in the YouTube debate, that "Christ was way too smart to ever" vote for Huckabee (I paraphrase, of course).

2) Likes Hack's plan to abolish the IRS, but doesn't realize that Hack's plan is that we continue to pay the same amount of taxes as before, but that we pay them in the form of a sales tax, instead of as an income tax. In other words, Hack's plan is to HIDE taxation, NOT to abolish it. Under Hack's plan, the gov't gets to steal the exact same amount of your money that they're stealing right now. Ron Paul is the only candidate that wants you to keep ALL of your money.

call Huck an invasionist :p
Pretty good, but really, Mass-Murderists is a better description for people who like to risk invasions on the notion that it might protect us in the long run.

But no war supporter wants to know they have willfully supported mass murder. Their intentions may seem good, but their mind's eye is mostly blind.

In a recent discussion I had with an admitted neocon, I pointed out to them the contradiction that in social matters we think the government is incompetent in running just about anything, so why should we be surprised when they stuff up in foreign wars.

Would it not make sense to be highly sceptical about government claims about what they can achieve with foreign welfare / war programs.

And anyone with half a brain can see plenty of evidence of this incompetence in Iraq.

Hence stepping back from such interventions should at least be considered as we would consider rethinking massive interventions into domestic policy.

Ask him how many Iraqi's must we kill for him to be satisfied with our progress.

I disagree with the war but I think it is a little far to call the 18 and 19 year olds serving on the front lines fighting for our country (agree or disagree with the battle) mass murderers.

Just keep poking him with a sharp stick, when he finally has had enough and punches you in the face. Tell him "See thats what we have been doing to the Arab world for over 50 years. If we stick to a non-interventionist policy, ie stop poking them with a sharp stick, they won't have a reason to want to blow us up."

Best answer ever!

every 5 yr old knows if some "other" kid comes into thier rooma nd starts playing with thier toys and takes a few away that they wouldn't like it!

That is common sense from birth IMO.

any logical human being can't deny it

ask him if a stranger came in his house and slapped his girlfriend would he be pissed off?
would it matter what race, color, nation ect.?

I think ive made my point.
If he still supports huck after that then ask him:
What is the "REAL REASON" cause it ain't foreign policy!

This guy is clearly in the mindset that "we have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here". Bring up our wide open border that Bush has not addressed and Huck won't either. If he thinks that Muslums are out to destroy us because their religion tells them too, ask why they did not attack us back in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s...

Tell him about the history of American politics. What has happened when we went into Iran, Vietnam, Korea, Pakistan, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Cuba, etc, in the past? NOTHING good has come out of them, and only more bad.

And now it is still the case.

No doubt he believes that the effect of the Bush foreign policy is to make America safer - "to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here".

Well the fact is that this has nothing to do with why 9/11 happened, and has nothing to do with preventing another one or an attack like it.

Why did 9/11 happen?

9/11 happened, first and foremost, because the federal government made it illegal for airlines to provide their own armed security on flights and the federal government did not hold up its end of the bargain.

9/11 happened, second, because airline screeners failed to detect the fake IDs used by the attackers.

9/11 happened, third, because the federal government failed to pursue and expel the attackers when their visas expired.

9/11 happened, fourth, because the federal government allowed the attackers to enter the country under lax security procedures on business, travel, and student visas.

We will prevent another attack by foreign terrorists like 9/11 the same way we could have prevented the first 9/11, and it has nothing to do with needing go and wage costly, drawn out wars against 3rd world dictatorships.

We will secure this country by respecting business and private property rights.

We will secure this country by restoring the 2nd amendment.

We will secure this country by securing out ports and borders immediately, and by ending lax and irresponsible immigration policies.

He's a good friend of mine. Very politically active. Very politically intelligent. Die-hard Huck supporter.

I've been working on him for months; I thought he was a lost cause until tonight. To my surprise, he told me tonight that he thought that RP was the best in every category EXCEPT the war/foreign policy.

That, for him, is a huge, huge, HUGE deal-breaker.

Help Me! I need some ammo. This guy would be great to have on our side.

I'm at work, so I haven't read the whole thread. Just make sure you keep mentioning how our own military supports Ron's idea of these wars, etc. At least you can put him in a place where he will jump on the Ron Paul bandwagon when Huck runs out of money and drops out.

tell him to join the army then and get over there and fight................

Exactly what have the Iraqis have done to us that warrants us killing more than a million of them so far? Do you actually feel safer now than before the war?

most of the ideas that have been proposed here are useless and possibly harmful.

To learn how a Huckabee supporter reacts hang around this forum they are thick as flies.

I could give you some pointers

1. avoid baseless conspiracy stories.

2. do not attack precious Huck

3. Compare Huck's good qualities with the same in Ron Paul

4. If a Christian tell him that you need to look at the fruit not the words

5. About the war I do not know how to change someone except to make them more afraid of a dollar crash than a terrorist attack.

That is funny! :D I'm going to try this on my Dad to see if it works.

When the search feature comes back online search for a post by me which talks about what I sent my Baptist sister about Huckabee.

It's an e-mail about all of the stuff that Huckabee has in his closet which doesn't look so good and casts very reasonable doubt into his ability to be a good President.
