How Rand Paul Became a Chamber Republican (article from 2014)

I agree!! His flip flop on immigration has really hurt him. The cheap labor lobby is slowly destroying liberty. We are importing millions of people that love big government.

Rand at one time was an enemy against the Chamber. Then he changed his tone 180 degrees a few months later after this alliance. It also was very revealing how Rand was protecting McConnell's right flank during the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill process. Rand has really made some odd deals in this Quixotian bid at the White House. He was far more popular being the outsider with no leash. Of course, Rand Paul will never mention this fact while he is railing on Donald Trump. But the political junkies with long memories know otherwise.

P.s.

Lets say people come here to discuss some activist effort and we got here people who openly bash Rand and pledge their support to other candidates. Its like playing basketball and having opponents scouts in your room listening to your every strategy... (Not aimed at AuH20)

Fucking annoying and depressing as hell.

Likewise, in a covenant founded for the purpose of protecting [_____], there can be no tolerance toward those habitually promoting lifestyles incompatible with this goal.

Is there something controversial about this? People have formed a community with the advancement of certain governance structures in mind – being [_____]. Those who wish for different structures are a) free to go elsewhere if anyone will have them, and b) may be removed as their purposes are in conflict with the covenant of the community.

He's gotten horrible advice and his pandering on immigration hasn't gotten him any big money donors. I just don't understand how Republicans can't see they're importing their own demise.

Simple Poll with 2 questions.

1. Grant amnesty and voting rights to illegal aliens

2. Enforce immigration laws.

80-20 for enforcement every time.

Immigration reform. Build the fence and after 5 years of enforcing laws and ending birthright citizenship we can begin to discuss what to do with people here illegally

Speaking in front of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce pushing pseudo amnesty did him no favors. I'm kinda exasperated with Rand Paul. The special interests even twisted him on his original position on aid to Israel. I actually didn't mind the Iranian deal vote as much as the Israel flip flop. It's very simple. No aid to anyone since we're broke. That is a principled position as opposed to an antisemitic one.

Rand's pandering strategy hasn't worked out so well thus far. Trump will likely fade like Cain, Gingrich and the rest of the trash did last time around. As it stands now, I feel like Cruz is in a much better spot to get the anti-establishment support after it inevitably dissipates from Trump IMO. Paul's in bad shape and I don't see a recovery in the works.

Let me get this straight. You're here trashing Rand Paul and posting unbroken links to hit pieces about him because someone in the media misrepresented one of his positions?

And he straightened that out during the debate, but you still don't care?

God it's easy to get you to refuse to do what's right for your nation, isn't it?

If Cruz was less of a preacher, he could take of all Trump's votes. But his religious talk will drive away some. I don't mind articulating your faith in a public forum, but Cruz takes it over the top. Secondly, Cruz is weak on the TPP along with his plans for a massive H-1B expansion.

What I want to know is, why isn't LibertyEagle coming after AuH20...insulting him, neg-repping every post the way she did when I voiced my concerns a couple of years ago? The things I said pale in comparison, and I certainly didn't come out on this website in support of another candidate. If it had come to that, I would have just taken my leave. I voiced those opinions with the hope of steering Rand back to the positions that his father took...not to do what AuH20 is doing.
Because LE likes Trump... I guess all you needed to escape LE's wrath is to find some joke of a politician to support. :D
I like what he has said since he announced. I would like to hear more from him about where he stands on specific civil liberties.

Cruz cannot win a general election.

Cruz is a phony on immigration.

Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.

“The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight,” he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Mr. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

I guess she's busy being the last person on earth (passionately!) defending Jesse Benton. I guess somebody has to do that important work.

I honestly don't see how certain members on here have so much positive rep

A variety of factors conspire to push rep in the upwards direction.

First, if you get negged, it's a -1 to your score. But if you get a plus, it can be many more than that. (If I give you +rep you get 15 points; if I give you -rep it's minus 1 point.)

Second, people are naturally hesitant to give neg reps because they don't want to spread negativity in general. A neg rep is more symbolic than anything.

Third, there is no better way to get +rep than to be funny. Posting a page-long essay of insightful and principled comments is less likely to generate rep than a good joke.

Bottom line the rep system is pretty broken and it's more for communication between posters than a representation of one's adherence to the creed of liberty.
