How prepared are you for a SHTF scenario?

How prepared are you if all Utilities/ga were lost and police resources were limited?

Prepared?

How do you prepare yourself for the shit hitting the fan? Yes I know all about the bug out bag, food and ammo.

But you really need to think. What are you willing to do, what can your mind muster in that worst case? Are you willing to shoot your liberal neighbor, your local L.E.O. when they completely take your rights away? Can you bring yourself to fight your own military? Because I'm sorry, you can not all just run and hide and wait it out. It just not work this way. And if you think it does, well I'm sorry to say, you will be easy pickings for them.

Think people, think!

My best advice, is to unplug the fan, before the shit hits it. (This means politically)

I think your point is valid to an extent. but preparedness is not only about political/economic meltdown. We all face our own local variety of natural disasters, choose your local favorite from a long list, Hurricanes, Blizzards, Earthquakes etc. It is just irresponsible not to prepare to be able to sustain yourself for a reasonable amount of time, in the event of their occurrence.

As for shooting anyone who I perceive a threat to the safety of me or my family during a time of great crisis: I'll just say I'm retired military, hesitation has never been an option. I won't speak for anyone else. There is a reason why Constitution supporting veterans are viewed as a threat to authority by authority.

Your analogy of unplugging the fan before the shit hits is invalid unplugged or not if you don't stop up the source you still got a mess to clean up it is just more localized. Just tell the Fed to STUFF IT! and Secede.

Changing the political landscape is why we are here and not on one of the Kool Aid Kommunities.

Food Ammo Bug Out bags, all useless if your brain ain't engaged in advance. Preparedness is all about thinking.;)

I don't think I will ever be as prepared as I want to be but I may be obsessive.

I'd be pretty screwed...all I have is the food I usually buy for the week, a 9mm Walther P99, a "guard dog" (my jack russell :P). Although I do have around 500 oz of silver and 20 oz of gold coins safely stored in a safe in the cellar to barter my way around. I really should be more prepared, but here in Germany we can't get ANY weapons whatsoever...the P99 is from when my dad used to work with Walther and never gave back or registered.

I'm in good shape but I'm not stupid enough to list things here on the internet for people to rob me if SHTF.

Here, completly FUBAR.

Assuming I can reach my Porsche with my BOB and get to the stepdads house, probably close to a year on food, ammo and safety for a long time.

I agree 100%. My statement was to just get people to think about the possibility's of the worst case. I'm ex military, and I'm fully aware of the hesitation factor. Mine is 0. But others need to at least think about the, not so pleasant things they may have to do. And maybe their hesitation factor will not be as bad, assuming they thought about it, and committed to do whats right.

As far as the political thing. I know your right. I really just don't want to admit that we have let things get this far. I would like to think there is a political solution.

My entire family would be screwed - no guns, no preparation, no anything. I think I'd just go to my girlfriends' because her parents have some serious firepower. I honestly wouldn't have any other options.

Clarification

I could go at least two months keeping my values,

I could probably go a year (Minimum) if I was willing to exterminate my neighbors.

Though I have little in onhand supplies, I am quite capable of living off the land. I can find food and make shelter in the woods around my area. Even in winter, though it would not be a comfortable existence.

This is pretty much where we're at, too.

The thing that concerns me most is probably fuel for travel and ammo for hunting. I'm thinking about getting into archery.

How prepared am I? Well, judging by the choices available in the poll, time frame is the only thing that matters. So I'm completely prepared.

I've got a shelf full of books that I haven't read, a whole garden sealed inside a PVC pipe & another sealed in a can that I've never planted, and a high post count on a survival forum where I talk about vampire cops & 'SHTF gear'.

Lock and load, bring on the zombies. ;)
