It's a well-known fact that an unhealthy diet is one of the leading causes of death in America. Let's talk about eating healthy.

How often would you say you eat what is generally regarded as "healthy food" (organic vegetables, fruits, seeds, spices etc.) as opposed to junk food / fast food / processed food? Do you try to include fruits and veggies into your daily diet? :questionsmerk:

I do my best to eat healthy at every meal, but I dont always succeed. The stuff I think is the good stuff tends to be out of my price range, and we dont have a Farmers Market available at this time due to the seasons.

Thanks Giving,
yep, every year at Thanks Giving I make sure to eat a big baked potato,
uh huh,,,, gettin' all my vitamins and minerals that way, the rest of the year
is Cheetos and beer.

I'm the number one reason a lot of doctors refuse to see certain patients.

Seriously though I start out with peanut butter toast for breakfast,
probably not the best thing,
but then have broccoli , spinach , that sort of thing everday, and
a good amount of supplements.

I'm not sure. The healthy food of today is likely to kill me tomorrow.

For instance, you listed seeds, but diverticulitis is a real side effect of a diet full of those sharp fancy seeds. Veggies? Which ones? Are we still fearing e.coli? Are eggs healthy today? Butter?

I eat balanced, delicious food when I have an appetite.

most days i eat at least one raw vegetable.. peppers.. i also eat alot of toast with grassfed butter and lots of nut butters.. raw almond butter, etc. of course i also eat white castle most days too.. usually 2 egg and cheese sandwiches.. you can get real fat eating toast and drinking hot tea... of course it has alot to do with the nut butters and half and half im sure. eating is different for me than it used to be after getting over tongue cancer a couple years ago.. all the things i used to like to eat dont taste good anymore other than a few things and even they dont taste the same so i wind up eating much differently than in the old days.. overall its probably a good thing as just about no junk food tastes good anymore.soda, candy, cookies, cake, etc etc none of it is good... bananas are one of the few fruits that are okay. red peppers taste good and broccoli taste better than chocolate.. so overall its good from a health perspective. ive drank alot of tea because that is about the only way i can taste something sweet and now even it seems to taste better when i include blackstrap molasses - again not a bad thing.. so shrug i dunno what else to say.

The older I get, the more I eat like this.
Watch this video. This is a man who clearly knows this is how he's going to die, and he is completely at peace with it.
65 years of eating like this is far better than 85 years of eating raw broccoli.

Daily. You're wasting your time exercising if your diet is shit. "Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food". -Hippocrates

I am a mindful eater. I read labels, and stay away from process foods. I cook more from scratch with clean foods. I try to grow a lot of my veggies or I get organic veggies from a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).

There's no evidence that organic food is healthier than conventional food. And by processed do you mean cooked and seasoned?

And by processed do you mean cooked and seasoned?

The worst is grinding up grains, it causes your blood glucose to spike harder when you eat them. Then there are some preservatives that probably aren't good in larger quantities over a long period of time.

I've always found a lot of evidence for it. Here's just four studies:

Organic food consumption during pregnancy and its association with health-related characteristics: the KOALA Birth Cohort Study.
Public Health Nutr. 2017 Aug;20(12):2145-2156.
Consumption of organic food was associated with a more favourable pre-pregnancy BMI and lower prevalence of gestational diabetes.

Association between organic food consumption and metabolic syndrome: cross-sectional results from the NutriNet-Santé study
Eur J Nutr. 2018 Oct;57(7):2477-2488
Our results showed that a higher organic food consumption was associated with a lower probability of having MetS [metabolic syndrome].

Organic Food in the Diet: Exposure and Health Implications
Annu Rev Public Health. 2017 Mar 20;38:295-313
Studies indicate some differences in favor of organic food, including indications of beneficial health effects.

Organic Food Consumption during Pregnancy and Hypospadias and Cryptorchidism at Birth: The Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study (MoBa).
Environ Health Perspect. 2016 Mar;124(3):357-64
Consumption of organically produced foods during pregnancy was associated with a lower prevalence of hypospadias in our study population.

That's only if you waste time exercising.

Exercise is only a waste of time if you do it to try to lose weight. That doesn't work. The health benefits of exercise are manifold. We know now that the mind and body are very closely related-as the health of one goes, so goes the other.

Huh...what's that you say?

All any one would have to do is look at the Amish/Mennonite Communities, if you want to see how organic food works to keep them healthy and strong.
