Does anybody know? I am curious to know how much $$ was spent on Super Tuesday and Feb 9th.

I don't know but since the latest message at HQ website from Ron donations have fallen off very badly. Some say he didn't write that but if not then whoever did should sign his own name, not Dr. Paul's.

Paul still has about $6 Million in the bank, set to spend $700K in Texas
Sunday, February 10th, 2008

From The Houston Chronicle:

…Benton said that even as Paul wages a primary campaign he will also continue running his presidential campaign in Texas. Three staffers will be assigned to his presidential effort here. He said that the Paul campaign has purchased about $700,000 worth of radio and cable television advertising that is scheduled to start running this week in the Houston, Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth markets.

Benton said that Paul still has about $6 million in his presidential election account. He said the lawmaker cannot transfer that money to his congressional campaign unless he terminates his presidential effort, which he does not intend to do.

But Benton said Paul had recently raised several hundred thousand dollars for his congressional race.

Message from Ron (2/8/08)

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans -- and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

Sincerely,

Ron

This message at HQ website is destroying the grassroots effort. It must be removed or we are finished. Look at the donations since this appeared.

A lot of people are probably thinking and feeling the same way I am - unless and until we hear what the new strategy is, I'm not gonna bother sending my money because I don't understand what it will be used for. I want to know what he intends to do about the presidential run - I care not for his congressional run - career politicians in congress goes against my beliefs.

I feel the same way. I am not against him running for re-election to the house but i'm not going to donate for it since i don't live there.

Good, donate to someone for your local government who believes what Ron Paul believes and will support him in the House...

Even before that message, many people felt more comfortable donating to grass roots efforts, rather than the campaign which had a questionable strategy (if indeed any strategy.)

I bet a lot of us are feeling the same thing - that we had a HUGE opportunity, and we lost it because of the lack of proper organization in the offical campaign. If it weren't for the grassroots effort, they would have had nothing.

That's not what I'm feeling at all. Nor is it what I'm being told by others. There is too much negativity on these forums and the truth is that most of it is self-generated. You guys should seriously knock it off. The fight we are in is alot bigger than just some silly game to prove who has more popularity. The American people don't even seem to realize why they need to vote. It appears they think they are supposed to vote for the candidate they like best, not the candidate who can actually follow and protect the constitution and our Natural Rights.

A lot of us as supporters can see what is happening. It is the inevitable course that a failing country takes toward the end. Very soon we will experience what many nations before the US have experienced during their final years. Low standard of living combined with tyranny. So, why have Dr. Paul's donations slowed? I'm sure some has to do with that letter, the rest (and I can speak for myself here) simply do not have the money any more. It seems I'm having to spend more and more money to be able to make my bills each month. I just don't have the money and there is no way to change that right now. I'm rather certain most others are in exactly the same circumstance.

Wait, this conversation is getting completely ass-in-nine. His campaign has/is doing quite superbly despite a blatant bias against him in every aspect. Despite the zero name recognition, despite the $2000 a plate dinners. Despite every single tool of convienence that the other candidates have. Well, with the exception of every other candidate that has dropped out. I would like to see any one of you run for President with no backing to start, no money to start. A message that upsets a huge majority of anyone of influence.

Yes, we are what is keeping this going, and we shall continue to do so. This is a job as American citizens. We either pay with money, or blood. Which would you rather?

As far as you losing such hope, did you honestly expect Ron Paul to waltz in and dominate the race? Do you fault him for being *honest* with his supporters, letting them know the real situation? Don't blame him, and don't jump to the conclusion that just because his donations are dropping off this cause is over. Lets start dumping some of that money into local candidates.

How about we show Ron Paul some appreciation putting for this extraordinary effort and inspiring the all of us to usher in change.

If any of you were running for president against a bunch of CFR scoundrels,
would you go posting your strategy online for all the world to see?

Think about that.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

If anyone expects to get my hard earned money, not to mention my vote, they damned well BETTER tell me what they intend to do with it.

So in other words, you want ROn Paul to be dishonest with those supporting him and be like every other crooked politican in history? Great thinking.

That's all well and good - but this is a PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN, not a bloody political action committee! If Ron Paul WILL NOT run as a third party candidate, NOR expects to have a brokered convention - what the hell are we still doing?!?! It seems to me his only intention at this point is to simply win his congressional seat and that's all.
