Mine are going up 5.22% if congress doesn't do anything. Just pay roll taxes I'm losing $2,600 a year. Then there's all the other taxes going up. Totaling for me $6,525 a year or $543 a month gone. Of course I also live in a very liberal city and the stupid ass voters voted for every single spending bill so looks like my property and local taxes are going up to the tune of $500 to $800 a year. Yay! Oh not to mention the electricity rates are going up with the restructure they are going through. Who knows what that will be yet but I'm sure it's not going to be small.

Then of course if the crazy X comes after me to use the state to unconstitutionally extort more money from me to the tune of $464 a month. So yes starting very soon I'm going to be out close to $13,000 a year! YAY!

I'm so f'n happy the government is there protecting my rights, creating a TON of services I don't use ever, and protecting me from drugs, terrorists, and the food I eat. Thank GOD for mindless TV to keep me and everyone else in the dark about all of this.

I also receive jack and shit for my tax dollars. Roads are the only thing I've ever gotten from those thugs. Where'd my other 98% go? (Rhetorical question, I know where it goes.....)

I once calculated how much better off I would be right now if the government hadn't stolen so much from me... it's really quite ridiculous. And every cent of it.. is wasted.

What do we have to show for it? You'd think with the amount of taxes that get stolen we'd at least have some decent public transportation, and free healthcare... (I'm not advocating either, but goddamn, if you're going to steal from me, at least give me something in return, fuck)

Roads are the only thing I use , I figure all the Fed , State , gas tax and sales tax on those two taxes , cover it...

Those of us on the low end of the income scale may not see a tax increase, but I can assure you, the price of goods and services will continue to get more expensive due to the embedded cost of taxation. Jobs will be harder to come by, and price inflation will increase too.

So even if you aren't "rich" these tax increases will hurt you more than likely.

Anyone who gets a paycheck is going to see a several percent increase , 2% alone in Social Sec, not to mention, soon it will be time for fines for those without a "Federally Approved " health plan ....

At least the country falling off the fiscal cliff helps balance the budget. The country will never stop blowing people up for no reason or handing out welfare sadly.

So true. Conservatives have lost the PR battle with the left on taxes. We need a new strategy in order to compete with the class warfare angle.

The truth is the rich do not pay taxes - we divert them. We have accountants that are highly skilled at figuring out the math and ensuring that we are not impacted at all by tax increase. When I was in business full time, if taxes went up (regardless if they were federal, state or local taxes) the prices of the goods and services I provided went up and/or wages went down. I'll give you a perfect example - back in the early 80's Atlantic City raised taxes on commercial properties. I owned two parking lots at the time there. As soon as the increase became law, the cost to park in my lots went up accordingly. It didn't effect my bottom line on those businesses one bit.

Today, I am retired, but still get a substantial income from real estate investments (residential and commercial rentals). Any tax increase that I see in 2013 will go straight into the rents that I charge and/or I will delay/reduce improvements to those properties. At the end of the day, I will make the same amount of money if my taxes are raised or not.

In reality, the only groups that are hurt by any tax increase are the working poor, the middle class, and the working rich (i.e. those who are paid a large salary, but have little in the way of income producing assets). Those who are wealthy (i.e. the business owners) are never directly hurt by tax increases. Even if they raised the top marginal rate to 90%, I am still going to be wealthy.

Conservatives need a new tactic on this issue. They need to go on the attack, showing how the left is only hurting the working poor and middle class with their "tax increases on the rich". We need wealthy people out there on TV saying that the Dems increasing their taxes will not hurt them one bit, as they will simply pass on the cost to consumers, the same way they pass on any increases in costs to consumers.

Mine will be going up about $6,000. Bad time to cash out investments.

A neighbor of mine is thinking about selling his condo becasue he fears capital gains taxes may go up. Problem is he won't have capital gains if he sells- he paid more than it is currently worth (he paid the highest amount any unit in the complex has gone for right at the peak of the market). He would get hit for selling at a loss (short sale) because the difference will count as income (that is not scheduled to change as far as I know) and if he keeps the place he avoids that. He would still stay in the same complex- just rent a different unit. I say don't stress and keep the place. Then you don't lose anything. Not everybody is reacting rationally to the situation.

No , the deficit will still rise, my guess , Reid and Obama , four years from now , from 16/17 trillion to , oh, add 5 more trillion....

If they taxed me that much, I would be ruined. I am starting to get really worried about this.

That's the design of it all. If the lower income people are forced into a situation where they have to rely on gov't handouts in order to survive, then they become happy Democrat voters. You won't be, I'm sure, but think of the hundreds of thousands of others who are teetering at this point.

As I mentioned in my above post, the rich really do not pay taxes, we just pass the cost on to consumers. So the poor and middle class are rallying for the gov't to raise taxes on the rich, but in the end it only hurts them. Another group of folks are pushed down further, become part of the dependent class and the Dems have more built in voters.

i'll just make the proper adjustments in my spending. Gonna be a lot of retail business getting hit hard. So be it.
