How Mitt Romney Lost My Vote

I voted for Bush in 2000 because I heard Gore was a hypocritical environmentalist, and skipped the following election. I voted for Bob Barr in 2008 because he was the Libertarian candidate, so he had to be better than the other guys, right? How wrong I was about that. Although I've been a Ron Paul supporter since 2007, I had no idea what the deal was with the whole Bob Barr situation and thought I was doing the right thing. I voted for Gary Johnson yesterday due to the fact that we can't write in candidates here in Nevada. Otherwise, I'd have written Ron Paul in without a second thought, obviously.

For me it was very similar. Except it was Daniel Hannan and Ron Paul YouTube videos that introduced me to The Doctor. I am proud to say instead of voting for McCain in '08 that I voted for Chuck Baldwin, who I learned some years later was who Paul has edorsed.

I don't know if this tops anything but I actually worked for and campaigned for Ralph Nader in 2000. I didn't know it yet, but I was already a libertarian who just hadn't read the Constitution, the Federalist Papers or, the anti-federalist papers. I knew nothing about economic issues either. But while I was actively campaigning for Nader I was involved in a few different politiical discussion forums and arguing with Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians along with a couple who were active with the Constitution Party. In those forums, someone would write an artticle about a certain subject and post it and then, others would respond with their views. I learned to put up good arguments by researching all of their sources and then reading everyhting I could find to back up my own position. So I learned all sides of just about every issue. What I realized was that the Libertarians were embarrassing me with their knowledge of the Constitution which previously didn't really matter to me at all. I like a lot of other liberals and so called conservatives thought it was outdated and subject to change according to the whims of each generation and that if we had good ideas we should push them through even if they weren't allowed in the Constitution. But in order for me to put up good arguments, I had to read it and that, usually for the first time in my life. Once I did, I realized that the founding fathers usually had it right and the positions I supported with all my heart would have been devestating if I ever got them implimented. I also realized that the policies that had already been implimented by people just like me who didn't respect the founders or the Constitution they drafted already had devestated our economy, cost us untold number of freedoms and got us into numerous unnecessary wars. In late 2000 someone turned me on to some articles by Gary Johnson and it blew me away. He quick became sort of a hero to me. I thanked that person and told him what I thought about Gary Johnson and then he turned me on to another guy named Ron Paul in an article called "Sorry Mr Franklin We're All Dmeocrats Now". He blew me away even more and he soon becaume my biggest hero. I never looked back.

122 votes already wasted!

the wasted vote meme/argument is funny, because i'd always considered voting for someone who wants to continue wasting money on government BS programs, voting for someone who wants to needlessly waste life in the middle east in reckless wars, and waste time on petty personal issues was what was wasteful.

Unfortunately I voted for Bush Jr. twice. I came to my senses with McCain. I recognized the war monger he was and abstained from voting 4 yrs ago for president. That was around the time I found RP, like many here from youtube and his books. Romney was never able to fool me, luckily.

And, as for Guilliani, Gunny I am stunned.
