I haven't read though this whole thread, so maybe someone already said this, but...I think Ron is somewhat too calm, polite, and gentlemanly for his own good. There's no doubt that Ron has nerves of steel, but he just doesn't seem to ever want to sink to the level of his detractors. But sometimes in politics you just have to be a bigger jerk than the other guy, even if it isn't in your nature to be a jerk.

So, I'd be thrilled if Ron turned up the temperature a bit. "You people are a bunch of warmongering hypocrites. You claim to be 'pro-life,' yet you've never seen a war you didn't like. You claim to love freedom, yet you all support the PATRIOT Act and similar police-state legislation." That sort of thing.

Ron has all the guts and brains he'll ever need, but maybe someone should coach him to be a little more aggressive.
