How does Ron Paul get rid of the income tax and reduce the national debt? The income tax accounts for 45 to 50% of our income. If we eliminate that, how does the debt get paid?

*I know the videos say we go back to 1998 spending levels and the income tax is only 1/3 of the income, this isn't necessarily true*

How do you reduce income and shrink debt???

Ending the war... bringing troops home from the 700 or so Military bases we have in other countries... decreasing the size of government beaurocracies... all of these things cut spending significantly, and there also other ways to raise money. The man knows economics better than I, so I can't explain it in depth, but that's the basic idea.

bringing the troops home from around the world would save trillions of dollars alone, then you got the department of education and all those other big pointless buildings that cost us billions in d.c.

Personally, I think we need to make the spending cuts Paul talks about but *keep* the income tax until we get most of our debt payed off. We need a massive budget surplus for the next several years to pay this off. It is not happening without the income tax, or a federal sales tax of 30-40%

Slash spending, bring the troops home, stop lavish million-dollar government parties, stop earmarking.

That alone would save so much.

To eliminate the income tax I say CUT CUT CUT CUT and CUT some more!!!!!

As for skrinking the national debt sell off assets, then use the proceeds to reduce the debt. The more the debt shrinks the less spending on interest payments there will be and taxes can be cut even more.

When you get rid of the fed the IRS kinda goes with it. Kennedy started to do that the slow way, and it would have worked, look up the info on that.
But yes, reducing spending will also help, which only happens if you elect someone who will push hard for that sort of change, thats why we need a President like Ron Paul.

it'd be a long process, but getting rid of the federal reserve and switching currencies would rid a large part of our burden but the owners of the Fed whoever they are would well... go broke or run off with the nations gold before we have a chance to get it back

Plus income tax breaks would stimulate growth of economy, people will consume more it should increase revenues of businesses thus increasing tax revenues. But I am really not an expert in this, that is how I understand it.

For all folks who have questions like this, you need to know about www.ronpaullibrary.org You can go there and find out how Ron Paul feels about different topics and learn about his plan for lots of different things. Besides, it would be great for you to learn more about him in general. It helps all of us when you learn more about him because you become better at teaching others his views.
