How does one one get off foodstamps?

Were you the type to get things done right off the bat?

I'm not sure where you're located, so I don't know how good or bad this idea is--but have you considered starting out with a food cart? I never got to read what your restaurant idea is, so I have no opinion on that.

Just a few places, just a few, that I have in mind. I will definitely be hitting the ground this coming week. I have an interview Monday and I'm now going to research my business Idea more. I have a friend who owns the most popular restaurant in my city, no bullshit. I will definitely get his advice.

I have my food list down, compact, but concise. I have recipes in mind, all healthy, yet traditional. I will have a customized food cart built. I will have to find a place to stay with a good kitchen. I will upload daily footage of my cooking and many social media features. I have a ton of work.

He's made several attempts to prove that he isn't some lazy leech stealing from the government and each time he gets shot down because he isn't some awesome perfect image of what you think a citizen should be. This is why we have trouble winning over soft support. Get off the food stamps as soon as possible, work hard, save up, cut back, etc. (other things have been mentioned in this thread). Good luck buddy and I hope that soon you're no longer another member of the welfare state. Reading this thread people will think we're all a bunch of self made millionaires who came up from nothing, struggled against hardship, and accomplished everything in life by ourselves with absolutely no help from anyone.

Edit: My favorite suggestion was that he become the next Mark Zuckerberg because of how easy it is. lol so all he needs is to be a student at a wealthy and prestigious university, get a ton of money from a wealthy investor, and steal the idea. Sounds so easy.

To answer the original poll question, I'd say that depends. Obviously someone like Rothbard would argue that any welfare state is detrimental to the growth of society. However, from the more "moderate" Austrian view, a negative income tax or basic income guarantee as a replacement for all of the various welfare services isn't necessarily incompatible with libertarianism either if you tend to use more utilitarian arguments.

But for the moment, it depends on person to person. Someone who has genuinely fallen on hard times will have a much stronger moral case for taking food stamps than someone who just doesn't want to do anything.
