Personally I think 4th would have been a huge difference, but in the long run it's 1 state and no one will remember past 2nd place. We knew this was a tough one, and we were only 3% from tied for 3rd. We haven't been humiliated, but we haven't been boosted from this either. Feeling very neutral about today. Glad Romney didn't win, glad Thompson won't be quiting.

5/5 would be 2-3.

to think we'd get 1st in a ultra con state, with 70% Bush approval is lunacy.

I voted 4/5. I think that 3% from 3rd isn't half bad.

Campaign screwed up trying to pander to republicans.

should have stood strong on the war and civil liberties.

bad mistake.

Very true. I remember a month ago thinking we were going to be getting less than 5% of the vote in Iowa.

I was hoping to be "pleased" not consoled. This is basically like the Ames straw poll result. We established some credibility and shamed one mainstream candidate. But it's not enough to "make news". Voted 2.

But I applaud the efforts of all you Iowans that went out in the cold and caucused.

Average. Not great, but very near our goal of 3rd. Don't think about placing, think about votes.

4/5. We're making steady progress, but I wish we got a couple thousand more votes just so Fox News would post Paul's results in their GD newscast

I voted one. Not being able to beat Thompson (who came back about a WEEK to try to rally late), hurts.

We needed third. We didn't get it.

It doesn't matter if we beat Rudy or not. He didn't compete. 10% gets us nothing. I hate to be overly pessimistic, but this is very bad.

About what I expected.

Ever since RP placed 5th at that Ames straw poll back in August, I didn't really expect him to do that well in Iowa.

New Hampshire on the other hand, is a totally different story and will answer a lot of questions about this campaign.
