How do we convince people of 'blowback'?

"Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands. Each and every state that does not tamper with our security will have automatically assured its own security." -Osama Bin Laden

Just a note, this quote by Bin Laden raised my hair a little back when it came out some years ago. The word he used for "state" (in Arabic) wasn't in the sense of "country" but rather "US State" or "principality". It seemed at the time that he was talking about individual states within the US...

The economic argument seems to carry more weight. If we don't change our foreign policy quickly, then the US will become bankrupt leaving our soldiers and airmen stranded wherever they are without food, fuel and ammunition. If we really care and support our troops, then the last thing we'd want to do is to leave them stranded in the midst of untold innumerable hostiles without food, fuel and ammunition.

Teaching people about blowback will probably work better in a "lessons from history" context, in the way of preventing this nonsense from happening again. I think immediate action is best pursued by the economic argument, while the long term solution to prevent recurrence will be the blowback argument.

The best way I convince people is talking about the CIA data and the information/evidence Michael Scheuer bring up. There is a great youtube video of Michael speaking at length about this. The interview is about an hour long, but around the 40 min mark he sums it all up. The video is called Conversations with History.
