How did you hear about Ron Paul ?

I first heard about Ron Paul when his name was mentioned in a video done by Michael Ruppert that has something to do with the crimes of the Bush administration about 3 yrs ago. Ive been hooked ever since.

When I was at the Colbert Report with the other Paul supporters, I learned that a good number of them found out about the Congressman through Alex Jones. I was disappointed, but I said "whatever."

Years ago I used to come across Alex Jones websites and thought he was a conspiracy crank. The scary part about Alex Jones is, almost every thing he has been warning us about for years has come true.

He is a brilliant documentray maker with gems like Terrorstorm, and Martial Law 911.

Stephen Baskerville, Wendy McElroy & LewRockwell.com

I'm a step mother and because of my becoming such, I've seen some pretty brutal interference by the family courts in the lives of mothers and fathers. Stephen Baskerville heads up an organization called American Coalition for Fathers & Children (www.acfc.org) of which I am a member.

Baskerville & McElroy are regularly featured on LewRockwell.com. Though I initially started out fighting for fathers, I realized the problem was much larger than family court. Indeed, the problem was too much government. What an eye opener that was. I cannot recall what specific article I was reading on LewRockwell, but I do recall there being linked text in the article that pulled up "A Republic, If You Can Keep It" by Ron Paul. All I can say is I was immediately hooked after reading it. This was about November of 2006.

I read one of his speeches about the federal reserve online and it really impressed me..about 4 years ago...kept his name in the back of my head...

I was watching a video on YouTube (cant remember which) and read a comment which said "Ron Paul 2008". So I googled his name and I'm glad I did.

That's an incredibly divisive thing to say. I think you're an ass.

*golf clap*

If you find my personal opinions "divisive" ignore them. I haven't said anything negative about you, and now you have me at a disadvantage. Fine work…

ScotTX: really?

I heard about him on a Slashdot article on who the best presidential candidate for nerds is. The entire discussion was on this "Ron Paul" guy whom I've never heard of... hooked since then!

Ron won the accompanying poll, btw :)

Cool. That wasn't too long ago either. 6 or 7 weeks ago I think.

I knew about him because he was against the Iraq War and Patriot Act when very few people in Washington took that stand.

I became a supporter of his campaign when he talked about non interventionism at the Reagan Library.

I first heard about the Libertarian Party in 1991 when Andre Marrou, a former Alaska State Legislator, was the LP's presidential candidate. Upon joining the party, they used to send out a promotional tabloid newspaper. In the paper, there was an excerpt from a letter titled, "Why I Resigned from the Republican Party". The author was Ron Paul. The letter was educational, persuasive and enlightening all at the same time. Ron Paul had resigned from the Rep. Party in 1987 and joined the LP to run for President.

About two months ago I was just another lockstep NEO-CON true believer. I came across Alex Jones' websites, started listening to his radio show, heard about Ron Paul, looked him up and liked what he had to say. I finally found a politician that had integrity.

If believing Rich elitists with unchecked power might conspire to take advantage of ordinary people and oppress them for their own selfish goals is crazy, gimme a straight jacket and load me up with Thorazine.

I read an article in Backwoods Home Magazine, of which I'm a subscriber. After I read the Editor singing Ron Paul's praises, I looked into RP more in depth and LOVED what I saw.

I'm still having a hard time believing that he's actually a politician.....

in dr. paul's case "statesman" applies!

It was Alex Jones for me. Say what you want about him, but he has a large audience and he gets the message out. I'd say that he has actually been pretty instrumental concerning Ron Paul's popularity. Dr. Paul sure doesn't seem to mind being associated with Alex as he's been on his show several times. As with most things, I think the whole Alex Jones/truth movement is a double-edged sword that can both help and hurt Congressman Paul at the same time.
