This is what I have never understood. Rand wanted Mitch's connections. Can anyone give me a figure in the 10s of millions as to how many donors Mitch sent to Rand.

How did Goldman boy Ted Cruz raise more money than Senate leader and Rand paul?

Probably because Rand is not in bed with McConnel the same way that Cruz is with the Goldman Sachs and bush/neocon republican donors

71% of Cruz donors are big donors ($1M+):
Yep:

I would hope not!!!! Remember, Cruz is sleeping with his connection to Goldman Sachs (literally) :p

Cruz has 2 things going for him

1- lots of popular support
2- some wall street money

Rand has 3 things going against him:

1- he alienated enough of Ron's supporters that the passion simply isn't there this time
2- he isn't fundraising himself like a candidate should be
3- he doesn't have any Wall Street connections

Is that a prediction of Cruz over Rand in Iowa for you? Or do you think Rand still has a shot in Iowa?

Rand has a fair shot at Iowa (of course since when were these things ever "fair"?)

Iowa is still anyone's game.

I definitely think Rand has a shot of winning Iowa. Rand's secret weapon is Huckabee and Santorum. I really hope they are both able to pull enough Evangelicals away from Cruz and Trump, as much as 10% of the Iowa vote for one or both of them.

Trump is the anti-evangelical candidate. There's no overlap there.

The problem is, the fact that you're hoping Huckabee and Santorum are the ones syphoning off those votes, and not Rand, is a bad sign. I wasn't aware of how bad Rand was at winning evangelical support and how little he seemed even to want it until this election.

Really? I heard different. Granted, Kenneth Copeland's crowd's actual validity as a Christian group is questionable given their Charismatic orientation (my opinion as an outsider), but they are generally regarded as "evangelical" by most post-19th century standards.

Rand is about as bad at kowtowing to evangelicals as Ron was, it's tough to appeal to people who are more interested in emulating voodoo worship practices rather than the Gospel, not to mention sway people who put Israel ahead of Christ in their list of priorities with a foreign policy actually based in New Testament thought. Hoping that Santorum and Huckabee siphon votes from Cruz is about the best you can hope to have happen unless you want Rand to join in with the Neo-cons in supporting us dropping nukes on Iran.
