If the event doesn't attract 1 million I would not consider it a success. You have to have lofty goals or why even try. Our forefathers had lofty dreams and look what they attained. Don't give up. Even the power of positive thoughts and dreams can make an impact. You must want it in your heart. Freedom from the tyrannical federal government must be the goal. A real change can occur if you want it bad enough. Ron Paul is the spark, each of us is the ember, the internet is the flame and a million people in Washington D. C. is the fire that cannot be stopped. Make your goals lofty because if all of us want our ultimate goal of diminishing government we will make it happen.

Hoover my point exactly when people say 10-50K thats a joke to me. Many people thought I made the number to high when I thought of the November 5th idea. They said 100K people was to many and 100 dollars was to much. I am really glad I didn't listen to those people because you need to aim your goals high and if you make it halfway like we did with November 5th you still reach your goal, if you get the media coverage it's a double bonus.

only a success if their roughly a half billion. ha jk i'd say a couple thousand. maybe 15,000 to me would be a success

If we can get other organizations to join our rally we can easily get 100,000 people. Impeachbush.org and moveon.org are just some of the organizations in mind.

While it would be a success at any #s, I would think it needs to be more than 100k to have a strong effect. I would like to see more than 1 million.

RP's voters have been around 5% of the population (low ball guess), which is 15 million people. Only 1/15 of that would have to show up to make 1 million. I would publicize a lower #, but shoot for the sky in our efforts.

I would call it a success if only I was there, because it means something to me to make a stand. The more people the better. I'm one of the few not worried about numbers.

Buuuut. As far as the media is concerned, we'd probably want 10,000+ to even be covered in the local newspaper.

well said.

Frankly, if ONE PERSON SHOWS UP and stands for Liberty, that is all it will take.

If every Ron Paul supporter who is able to shows up, it's a success.

I'd like to know what the whole point is.

What does a march EVER accomplish? The only times marches ever accomplished something is during the civil rights era when it was huge and sustained for years and in many different places, and accompanied by lots and lots of civil disobedience (and the occasional riot).

Sure, if 100,000 people show up, it might make the news for a day or two, but then what?

We'll still be in Iraq, the Constitution will still be ignored, lobbyists will still be buying off congressmen, and the NSA will still be spying on you.

What are people considering a "success"?

There are 18,368 precinct leaders signed up right now on www.ronpaul2008.com. If we can't get people to walk their own neighborhoods, what makes anyone think we'll get more than that to DC for a march? I'm just curious where people are coming up with numbers of 1/4 million or more?

Yeah, seriously.

Don't be delusional, people.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Plan for 5 computer hackers to show up, pocket protectors and all.

Hope for 1 Million plus to show up, protesting Washington and making a day in history.

that's the right idea though - we need other groups. We just need some big names/musicians.

Don't forget to count all the people that will be there and will crowd around bc of curiosity (will make it look bigger). That's why JULY 4th is the best date.

I would call it a success if only I was there, because it means something to me to make a stand. The more people the better. I'm one of the few not worried about numbers.

Well, I seem to have missed Congressman Paul making that original statement and can't even believe that he would say such a thing until I see the vid myself. How could he even entertain the idea that nobody would show up? Doesn't make sense from this chair.

Anyway, Agent CSL has the exact right attitude.

I think it will be a big success if the people that show up are more than the people that voted for the doctor. It would be nice if Dennis, Gravel and Nader where asked to rally their people too.

what you need to do is have the rally for all groups of people...

anti-war
pro guns
pro life
anti-IRS
pro marijuana
anti-gov
9-11 truthers

EVERYONE!

Million Man March got 700k-million supposedly, and they only allowed men to participate

(my emphasis added...)

Both the Million MAN March and the Million MOM March claimed that they had a million folks there. Later reviews of the videos for those days concluded that there were probably less than MLKjr got in the 60s.

However, since BOTH of those events claimed a MILLION (even including it in their names), then the MSM generally went along with that tally. Didn't hurt that both of them had an agenda that the MSM agreed with.

I think that the MSM will marginalize our numbers regardless... even if we get half the population to show up! Soooo... we need to video ourselves. We need to make it a success ourselves. If you believe that it will be a failure, then you will fulfill your prediction. Believe in your fellow freedom fighters/advocates and make it a success. ;)

I have work, work, work... a family (newborn included) and had other plans for the 4th... BUT, we plan on being in DC barring any unforeseen circumstances that absolutely prevent it! See you there!:D
