I must be in a bad mood this morning, because I'm pretty well convinced even if we have 5 million people there and Congress resigns, we won't make the news.

HQ must hve a fairly good idea of how many unique people donated to the campaign.

Lets assume that it was 500,000 (just guessing)

Figure half of these people wont make it for various reasons.
Previous engagements, too far to travel etc...

250,000 would be fair number.

Am I over estimating?

Anyway Im there whatever the date is.

There are 18,368 precinct leaders signed up right now on www.ronpaul2008.com. If we can't get people to walk their own neighborhoods, what makes anyone think we'll get more than that to DC for a march? I'm just curious where people are coming up with numbers of 1/4 million or more?

I think we can get a million if the event is planned right. Im not kidding.

Hence the July 4th option.

I thought for sure we'd break 20% in 5 states by this point. What evidence do you have that we'd get that many people. A spectacular failure will be more newsworthy than a spectacular success.

Ive got a case of the Mondays myself... I keep imagining to many people going to DC.

To me, thats a good thing. For lack of a better example, Woodstock started as an idea and grew into a cultural event that went down in history.

Thats what I see happening here.

Movements dont ask for permission. Revolutions dont wait for orders.

Define success. Will we lobby capitol hill and show our presence to the house and senate?

Marches come and go every year in D.C. Even five hundred thousand can be ignored if it is on the weekend because congress goes home. By monday morning it is as if nothing happened.

Because I huge march on DC will be fun.

Not saying that I don't find canvassing fun but the general population probably doesn't.

there ere a quarter million views of the video within 24 hours of its release and that is just the youtube version count. Precinct leaders are a whole different ballgame. If they each convinced 10 in their precinct to come that s 180K+.

100k - reality check

I don't see how we can realistically get anywhere close to 100k people. We could not even get half that many people to donate on our biggest moneybomb day from the comfort of their own home - and that was when we still had lots of excitement around the campaign. Anything over 10K, I would consider a success.

It's not just about Paul

This march isn't just about Ron Paul. It isn't meant to be a "get Ron Paul into the Oval Office march"; it is for everyone fed up with the incompetite government that does not listen to the people. It is an anti-war march, anti-Fed march, etc. I am hoping there will be more than just Ron Paul supporters/donators there. I have invited all my friends, including democrats. If we turn this into solely about Ron Paul, then it will not be a success. It's about the message. Don't forget about that.

Let's say 10,000, because that makes it easier to call it a success rather than a failure.

Consider
1) A lot of people don't like protest marches.
2) Most people donated with the idea that they were helping Ron Paul win the
Presidency. McCain will most likely be the nominee by the time the march takes place.

It needs to be big enough so that if everyone took a piece of the capitol, supreme court, and white house home with them (Kind of like taking a piece of Mordor back to the Shire), our troubles would be over.

A guy at work is interested in going. A couple I know that run our meetup group are definitely going. I have a family that lives around the corner that are planning to go, and I would also strongly consider taking my family. Let's see...that's 11 from my small circle of friends alone.

If we're just looking for media coverage, it doesnt matter how many people we have, theyll black us out if they feel like blacking us out. If we want to send a message to the establishment, 50K or so should suffice. I think 10-25K is impressive though.

If the event doesn't attract 1 million I would not consider it a success. You have to have lofty goals or why even try. Our forefathers had lofty dreams and look what they attained. Don't give up. Even the power of positive thoughts and dreams can make an impact. You must want it in your heart. Freedom from the tyrannical federal government must be the goal. A real change can occur if you want it bad enough. Ron Paul is the spark, each of us is the ember, the internet is the flame and a million people in Washington D. C. is the fire that cannot be stopped. Make your goals lofty because if all of us want our ultimate goal of diminishing government we will make it happen.
