How badly does this hurt Rand?

Obviously. His political career will be over, at least as a Republican ( and he'd have zero chance of starting on as a Democrat, considering his views). He'd need to pull a Lieberman and try re-election as an Indy - and even if he'd manage to win, it'd be a political dead-end.

I think Rand will run for re-election in 2016, not for the President though.

Get ready for Martinez 16 or Rubio 16.
I've been wondering if Rand would have to give up his Senate seat to run for POTUS in 2016. If so, I think he runs for re-election too.

As for the GOP nomination, look at your history: they always go for the guy who was left on-deck. That would be Santorum. (we really need a vomit smiley)

If the GOP would even THINK about going for a social conservative they'd be suicidal. Think about how hard the left tried to work the social angle this election. Think of what that would have been like if Frothy was the nominee.

Santorum like social conservatives are basically done as statewide GOP candidates for the time being, let alone social ones. Even some SoCons players I've talked to recognize that. The last two cycles were brutal. O'Donnell, Angle, Mourdock, Akin, Miller, Buck. That's a majority right there.

Bachmann barely hold a R+7 district.

The GOP will be moving towards becoming a more socially moderate party.

I know that and you know that, but the GOP is a slow learner.

There's also the possibility of Santorum attempting to re-invent himself as the winds change. Romney did.

I've already recruited a half dozen friends to the the movement. If it's youth movement steer them to youtube and show some of Ron and Rand's view points on many issues. It works!

I think 2016 will be the neocon and neanderthal religious right last stand, don't be surprised to see them prop up santorum...

I hope I am wrong though, they can't possibly be dumb enough to want to make abortion and banning gay marriage top priorities while America heads towards a fiscal cliff...

That's not sabotage, it is people deciding who they personally choose to support. Some people don't like people who endorse Mitt Romney and vote for sanctions. Deal with it.

I could care less who he supports but actively working against him?
Sabotage is a deliberate action aimed at weakening another entity through subversion, obstruction, disruption, or destruction.
That's what that is.

It can't be from the inside if he's not working to elect Rand. That would be from the outside.

Neither Ron's voting record, nor his endorsements are pristine either. People don't realize that.

If they're part of the liberty movement and they are hurting Rand, then that is indeed internal.
Not for people who don't believe Rand supports liberty. "The liberty movement" isn't a tangible thing, it's whatever individuals decide it means.

And, as I mentioned, the sanctions.
The sanctions are a non-issue for anyone who studies it. Rand only voted to stop doing business with the Iranian central bank. That would be like China saying "we aren't doing business with the Federal Reserve anymore".
