Houthi fighters in Western Yemen have sank a Saudi military vessel
in a missile attack off the coast of the country’s province of Hudaydah.
A military source in Yemen told al-Masirah television network on Monday
that Yemeni forces fired a guided anti-ship missile at al-Madinah warship near the port city of Hudaydah,
150 kilometers southwest of the capital Sana’a.
The vessel reportedly had 176 soldiers and officers, as well as a combat helicopter onboard at the time.
The warship had apparently mounted missile attacks against Yemen’s western coasts, cities and fishermen.
Saudi battleships have been warned by Yemeni forces against using the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait,
which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.
