WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The West Monroe Police Department will be conducting two sobriety and occupant checkpoints in December.

The first one will be a part of the weekend events on Friday, December 13th from 9:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. The second checkpoint will be on Friday, December 20th from 8:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M.

These checkpoints are designed to communicate law enforcement's efforts to spread the message about the importance of sober driving and proper seat belt and child safety seat usage.

There will also be increased saturation patrols through the Louisiana Highway Traffic Safety Administrations over-time program to aggressively enforce these related laws. It will also be a local law enforcement joint effort, including the Office of Homeland Security.

Authorities Announce Annual DUI Crackdown

Extra Enforcement Efforts Deployed During Holiday Season
Friday, December 13, 2013
By Kelsey Brugger

Friday marked the first day of an annual three-week, multi-agency DUI crackdown throughout Santa Barbara County. The Sheriff’s Office and the DUI task force called Avoid the 12 — 12 law enforcement agencies participate — have received a $130,000 grant for the past 10 years to fund additional DUI checkpoints, warrant sweeps, and court stings throughout the year, with extra efforts during Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the holiday season. Sheriff Bill Brown, District Attorney Joyce Dudley, police officers, and firefighters gathered at the Sheriff’s headquarters on Friday morning to warn against drinking and driving.

Just the roll out Comrade.

We were paranoid nuts when we told people 7 or 8 years ago, where this was heading.

All part of the plan.

Freedom IS being detained by Kriminalrats of the Geheime Staatspolizei.

We're still paranoid nuts. What is it you have against a secure liberty?

Continuing Resolutions for years, has so over funded the DHS. They were spending billions just on their buildings, now that they are built, they can spend it on Soviet/Gestapo checkpoints and fund local law enforcements with military weapons and amour.

Remember scumbag House leader John Boehner's rushed bill to the floor, that killed Dennis Kucinich's Libyan Peace Bill? Well, it was accidentally revealed on the house floor by rep Brad Sherman, that DHS funded the covert operations of NATO and the Libyan war to the tune of $1+ Billion.

They have so much stolen money from the American people and 40% counterfeited money from the Federal Reserve, they are turning America into one great Soviet internment camp.

You are confused if you think there is any fucking difference.

the State controlled DHS is safe, secure, and compassionate. Comply then grieve. Its for the children you non-conforming terrorist tea party radical constitutionalist enemy of the state...

don't make me report this thread.

You are confused... the feds have nothing to do with this, it is not the federal DHS, but the idiot state government have their own DHS departments.

Thank you Matt. So TN is the only state where the United States Department of Homeland Security does checkpoints on the Interstates. What a horrible thing for a state to be known for :(

All of NH is a "constitution free zone" - meaning you could be detained at a FEDERAL DHS checkpoint at any time.

The fact is, it is both FedCoat and State Gestapo undertaking these.

I still want to know what these weak looking unmarked dodges and chevys are. Communication disks on top rear, split rear window brake light (that doubles as flashers), cop looking guy driving (military haircut), with a mounted laptop.

Windows are usually not tinted. I took pics of a chevy yesterday with a light bar that went all the way across the back window. The dodges I see usually just have the split rear window brake light.

These aren't dodge chargers... they look weak. Can't remember the model, but very stealthy. These guys also have attitudes... 2 have flashed me in the past, 1 of which tried to lecture me at a stop light. Neither pulled me over, which tells me they must be asked not to... so they aren't regular unmarked cops.

WTF are they? Border patrol? DHS? Something else?

I dunno about that, but yes, TSA actually stopped truckers in TN once to conduct a survey of some nonsense. When that happened I e-mailed it to Ron, he did a piece about it the following week, it went national, and they haven't done it since, presumably due to the outcry of the first time they tried it. I'm sure they'll try it again.
