I wrote my senators (Georgia) over a month ago about this bill. I received this response today. If this is true, it is a great victory for us!

Dear ----------
Thank you for contacting me regarding S.1959, the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. I appreciate hearing from you and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

S.1959 was introduced by Senator Collins (R-ME) on August 2, 2007. As you may know, Senator Collins withdrew the bill so it will no longer be coming before the Senate for consideration.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please visit my webpage at http://isakson.senate.gov for more information on the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-newsletter.

Sincerely,
Johnny Isakson
United States Senator

Doesn't look like it has gotten much traction at least.

On his website: "Isakson Praises Passage of Terrorist Surveillance Legislation "

O-o S.1959 is active to my knowledge.

Do some digging...

Sometimes they with draw one bill, only to have a similar one in the wings with a different number. While everyone who was against it gets excited about a victory, something similar passes under a new, different number.

Bill

What they do is withdraw it, hold on to it until the uproar dies down and then layer it inside of something else, something that is more popular and will pass without as much fight. Same old story........

I'm not exactly sure how bills work within the Congress between the HR and Senate, but I believe H.R. 1955 to be the same thing, which has already bassed in the House.
