Hitting large gatherings

I'm thinking one way to reach a bunch of people in our target audience is to spread the word at large gatherings independently.

For instance, this summer I'm taking my family to the 10,000 lakes music festival up in Minnesota. It's 4 days of music and camping - I think with around 20,000 people or so in attendence. I plan to have some material to pass out. I'm going with my wife and two daughters - and we will be wearing some sort of Ron Paul gear throughout as well. I have a camper - and the plan is to have a bunch of free popscicles as well. That way they can cool off and enjoy the free popscicle, and have to engage me and my family. :D

A real gold mine - but something I can't commit to is a much larger festival down in Tennessee. Bonnaroo in 26 days. That event is also 4 days of music and camping - and it draws over 100,000 people.

The only thing that stands in the way of Paul winning is getting enough people to of heard of him and time is of the essence. If you know of any large gathering - please consider going for the social networking factor.

That is absolutely perfect!

I need to consider tweaking the cards to fit this unique target audience better though. For instance, his stance on the federal war on drugs is something that needs to be included.

My event is in 60 days - so I have some time yet to better plan, and this forum could be perfect to give me some ideas. Whoever took the time to set this site up - much thanks!!!!

So here is my to do - and where I'm soliciting advice, criticism, etc.

1) Material to hand out. No way I'm going to top this deal - but I think I can get more bang out of the message by tailoring 1-2 of the bullet points. My thinking is to remove the balanced budget item (that and never raising taxes is somewhat redundent anyway) and list his stance on the drug war. But how to word it....

2) Prep for Camper (booth setup). I need to make a big Ron Paul Revolution banner or something on the camper. This is where my wife (who hates computers) can shine. Sadly, I have no artistic talent, and she has gobs. I thought I would let my little kids have a side project on the banner for the baseball and Apple Pie effect.

3) Get some shirts/hats or something to wear. Maybe even bumper stickers or Possibly other random giveaways. - anybody seen good deals on these type of material - please post.

Banners

You can purchase custom printed vinyl banners. I understand that they get a little expensive retail, but I got a 6x3 banner done for $35 by going to a high school that had a graphics department that did them for cost, to train their students. Try high schools, community colleges, and universities in your area, and you might get a better price with similar quality.

I will also be at Bonnaroo this year. I may order up to 5,000 liberty cards but I haven't decided yet. If I order that many I would like if someone could meet me at Bonnaroo to take some off my hands. I don't want to end up passing things out the entire event.

If you are going and would like to co-ordinate something, let me know.

Man I would love to help you out.

I would suggest getting some posters and put them at high volume foot traffic areas. You could even fix a card holder to the poster and leave 100 or so cards in each one.

I posted about this too on another thread....

The only way we will be able to truly penetrate the mainstream media with Ron Paul is by getting him as much money as possible thru donations so he can buy time via commercials...buying airtime usually leads to bonus airtime on the network thru interviews. Writing letters to see him as a guest will only go so far.

We must tell everyone we know about him, use flyers from the official website, the liberty cards, whatever....every one we can turn on to Ron Paul is one more potential donor.

The internet will only take this so far....We need to campaign for him in the real world...

I see many places we can change minds on the cheap by passing out pro Ron Paul flyers as well as the liberty cards.

It's summertime, and summer brings tons of festivals with tons of people.

Music festivals are a great place to spread the word. Many music festivals have a very anti war demographic....Ron Paul's views will go over well at music festivals.

Here in Buffalo we have the taste of buffalo festival in July which usually brings about 200,000+ people out. I will be there handing out as many flyers and liberty cards as I can afford to print and buy.

We also have the artvoice festival here in Buffalo which has brought as many as 400,000 people here in buffalo...I will be working that too for congressman paul.

If each of us does this at our local festivals where large amounts of people gather, and pass out flyers and liberty cards, It will help...doesn't matter if you print up 100 flyers or 10,000 flyers...it will help grow support and donations to the campaign.

Seriously, this is the next logical step in growing the Ron Paul Revolution...

We have to get out there and each do what we can....

I think a good idea would be to get a sticky thread of upcoming large events....and try to coordinate with local meet up groups near those events.

I posted about Bonnaroo last night on another thread...maybe we should contact some Ron Paul Meetupgroups in Tenneessee to see if they can get any members to work Bonnaroo?

10,000 lakes festival is a good one....

Just wanted to say Bonnaroo is June 14th-17th... so time is running out to get people on board for it.
