2017 on track to be worst-ever year for cow-related violence

In the first six months of 2017, 20 cow-terror attacks were reported–more than 75 percent of the 2016 figure, which was the worst year for such violence since 2010.
The attacks include mob lynching, attacks by vigilantes, murder and attempt to murder, harassment, assault and gangrape. In two attacks, the victims/survivors were chained, stripped and beaten, while in two others, the victims were hanged.
These attacks–sometimes collectively referred to as gautankwad, a portmanteau of the Hindi words for cow and terrorism, on social media–were reported from 19 of 29 Indian states, with Uttar Pradesh (10), Haryana (9), Gujarat (6), Karnataka (6), Madhya Pradesh (4), Delhi (4) and Rajasthan (4) reporting the highest number of cases.

Trump fully said that the Modi Administration was what he wanted for America.

Trump fully said that the Modi Administration was what he wanted for America.

Hard to to say if he fully meant , was lip service or he was just trying to flirt with the hot first lady of Modi?

Thier local english Press seems to think this:

Atmospherics apart, little came out of Modi’s US visit

July 4, 2017:

What is puzzling is the complete silence on the H1B visa restrictions in the joint communiqué. Efforts are also on to ensure that more restrictions being considered by the US Congress, that could spell doom for Indian IT companies in the US, do not get implemented.
The fact that this single-most important issue for India got completely bypassed indicates the influence the US wields in such high-level meetings. India should have made more efforts to ensure the matter received some mention. To avoid important issues because they are difficult is not a good idea. One can now only hope that the proposed comprehensive review process of trade relations mentioned in the joint statement gives at least as much weight to the problems of the Indian industry as its American counterparts.

Christians Join Protests in India Against Hindu Radicals Killing People Over 'Cow Devotion'

By Stoyan Zaimov , Christian Post Reporter
Jul 13, 2017

Christians in India have joined thousands to protest against mob violence and murders that have been committed by Hindu radicals over their religious beliefs.
The Baptist Press reported on Wednesday that the protests, under the rallying cry "Not in My Name," have been raging in at least eight cities in the nation since June.

Minorities are speaking out against a number of murders, including the lynching of a Muslim teenage boy two weeks ago who was accused of eating beef, which goes against the beliefs of the country's Hindu majority.
Although most Indian states ban the consumption of cows, minorities such as Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Jains depend on them for food.
The protesters, which included Hindus, chanted that the killings in the name of patriotism and "cow devotion" were "not in my name."

In the name of the cow: Murder, flogging, humiliation of Muslims, Dalits

In Gujarat, the flogging of Dalits for skinning a dead cow has triggered spontaneous street protests, and circumstances that seemingly led to the resignation of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel.

Indian authorities failed to stop 'cow vigilante' violence: report

By Helen Regan and Swati Gupta, CNN
Wed February 20, 2019

(CNN)Cow vigilante crimes in India have been ignored or covered up by the authorities, according to a new report.

Between May 2015 and December 2018, 44 people suspected of killing or transporting cows for slaughter, or even just eating beef, were killed in vigilante attacks, according to Human Rights Watch. That number included 36 Muslims.
Human Rights Watch said many of the murders went unpunished in part due to delayed police investigations and "rhetoric" from ruling party politicians which may have incited mob violence.
Many among India's majority Hindu population consider cows to be sacred, and most states have banned their slaughter.
