Highway Patrol Asks Ron Paul Supporters to Deflate Hot Air Balloon Along Busy I-85

Unfortunately, no one likes more traffic. The balloon is cool, though.

Meh, I take it back. It was essentially just a more attractive billboard, set up on the frontage road. So they got a warning for being in the frontage road. Note there is NO statement that the frontage road was backed up, it is probably rarely used.

Jim is exactly right. That spot was chosen as traffic ALREADY backs up during that rush hour before the I-385/Woodruff Exit, and contains billboard advertising clearly intended to reach that traffic. Once traffic backed up further than normal, the balloon was promptly, and respectfully, removed. As is usually the case, once people saw HP lights, the traffic slowed to a crawl as people slowed to see what’s going on. We were respectful and were not in the roadway or anything like that. We were in an area PROFUSE with billboard advertising and were simply advertising our candidate on that dead end Frontage Rd.

Liveandletlive, We were with plenty of billboards... not sure anything gets quite the attention of a hot air balloon in a tight spot. It was awesome. :-)

According to the person on the other thread who says he was involved, it was at the end of a frontage road that dead-ends into the highway, where traffic builds for miles every day, and was chosen for optimum exposure.
