[Highly Intriguing] Vatican Requests 1500 year old bible from Turkey

1700 years ago = a constantine the great date?

if genuine, this is up there with the turin shroud. if fake...

1500 years ago = a king arthur of the britons date = a justinian + theodora date?

If genuine, and it says anything outside of the doctrine of the Roman Catholic church, I'll bet you anything something "accidentily" happens to it.

And what would a Calvinist do if it says men have free will?

Freak!

They would absolutely freak, as they believe you are called to salvation at a preordained time completely void of any influence of free will. However, if it is indeed one of the apochraphyl (sp?) gospels, it'll be the Roman Catholic chursh most upset about it. LOL....more so if it in any way mentions Mohammud

I got two bucks against it mentioning the M :)

One of you guys should just offer 2.5 million Turkish Lira for this thing , I sure would like to look at it :)

None of what you wrote makes sense.

that particular bible is either fake or genuine.

the shroud of turin has had a controvery

swirl around its dates after testing

was done. i'm surprised that you have no

awareness about that ongoing controversy.

If it was real , and stolen , would not someone have filed claim for it with the Turks ???

I am not sure the lettering sounds authentic for the time period , but I would love to see it . I am trying to think if I recall of anything from the time period with gold lettering and I am coming up blank.

Very tempted to weigh in on this thread.. but that would likely result in a swift banhammer. #lesson learned #forum bias

From the article:

Today's Zaman reports that the Bible is under high security and that a Turkish daily newspaper, the Star, claims the book could be a copy of the Gospel of Barnabas -- a controversial text which some claim is an addition to the original gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John -- that was suppressed.

In it, Jesus is said to have predicted the coming of the Prophet Muhammad.

Hmmmm....1500 years ago would be 510 A.D. Mohammed was born in 570 A.D. (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad) This could be very interesting.

According to some sources Mohammed's first wife Khadija was a Catholic nun and her uncle, Warak ibn Nawfal, was a Catholic priest who was one of the first people to recognize Mohammed as a prophet. Note that the illiterate Mohammed didn't write the Koran. It was written by his followers. So Warak, a Catholic priest, may have helped write the Koran. And now the Vatican is seeking an early Christian Bible that might "confirm" Mohammed as a prophet of prophecy? (The manuscript is possibly written during Warak's lifetime). Hmmmmm.......

Maybe it was nearly everyone. There's very strong evidence that Warak was Catholic.

Narrated 'Aisha(R): Volume 4, Book 55, Number 605:

"..The Prophet returned to Khadija while his heart was beating rapidly. She took him to Waraqa bin Naufal who was a Christian convert and used to read the Gospel in Arabic Waraqa asked (the Prophet), "What do you see?" When he told him, Waraqa said, "That is the same angel whom Allah sent to the Prophet) Moses. Should I live till you receive the Divine Message, I will support you strongly."
